Absolutely loved food star! We took
Our 2 young kids 7 and 2 put for lunch over the weekend and there is not a single thing I would want to change!
The food is incredible and the fact they have the classic nuggets and chips available as well was a huge game changer for us because it meant unlike most other places, our 2 year old could actually eat there as well.
Both kids loved the food and the 2 year old even loved the noodles!
We will definitely back, just incredible all round 👌🏻

Food Star is an experience like no other.
A truly natural liminal space. A place that is within and in-between nostalgia and new paradigms. A place that is at once strange and familiar, warm and distant, vivid yet surreal.
It is not a vibe that can be manufactured or created. You may think you understand what a liminal space entails, but recognising its characteristics and aesthetics is different to being enthralled within it—it's the difference between splashing in a man-made swimming pool and floating in an ocean. You cannot understand it until you are in it. I did not.
Here, by the hums of the neon and faint echoes from the kitchen, this place is not haunted by the past hungry patrons and boisterous families of its heyday (although they may come to mind). No, here YOU are the ghost. The world shifts and continues to spin. Endless faces pass right by endless windows. And yet, here you are. Eating the same food. From the same plates. Surrounded by the same decor. All unchanged. But quieter.
No modern restaurant (or any place in Melbourne really) can capture such a strange but satisfying feeling. It is like a polaroid that didn't quite set all the way. But it was a good memory. So you hold onto it.
You will be sad to leave.
For there is nothing else like it. A place conducive of the rarest of feelings.
Oh the food? The food was competent too. Very reasonably priced. A good variety as one would expect. Tea and coffee included.

Hasn't changed in the past 20 years they still haven't fixed the front door ( it gets stuck when you fully open it )lol I walked in there and felt 20 again and you feel like you gonna get stabbed walking to the toilets out back

Changed a lot since i been there last. The food was great, service was good. Probably just need a good makeover to brighten the place up.

The food is great very very excellent. That is why I go there many times. So mush variety to choose from and taste great and the price is well balance worth every cent.

I've had no problems with this place. A decent price for all you can eat. A surprisingly wide choice of cuisine including dessert, nice staff and plenty of room. Definitely recommend bringing a party to this place :)

This place is great i always came here we held our birthdays here and it is an amazing place really really good food yes it may be old looking but it is a great place to come and eat at the old looking style makes it more
original then others i would come here everyday if i could the staff are really friendly and really made our experiences great every time without fail and the prices are very reasonable

For the price, this place is decent, leaving with a full stomach is very much appreciated

For the price you pay, you can't complain with the variety of food on offer. Been here a few times over the years.

Value for money especially if you have a big group or family

One of the best cheapest buffets in Melbourne and 10/10 Food and Staff Quality. Only bad thing tho are the toilets with dirty taps and dirty toilets but other then that 10 out of 10

The owners were very kind, the workers were also really nice and respectful.

I don't know this place has heaps of 1stars.
Everytime I came here the food and everything was delicious and the last time I came here the price for a family was like $50.

We went here around 6.30pm on a Friday, all the food was hot and fresh, the staff were lovely and helpful, only confusing part was some of the signs like the baby octopus salad sign sitting above the desserts and thousand island sauce sign near the whipped cream

Pretty damn good for $17. Variety is a bit limited and the meat is not amazing, but I'm happy considering the price. Free coffee too
