Such an awesome Korean place

You order your food at the table via your phone, and pay at the same time. The food comes out quite quick, and super fresh.
Your cutlery is stored in a draw on the side of the table which I thought was a nice touch.
The place it’s self is busy, nice and bright and really clean.
The food is delicious ! Got some beef noodle soup, which also comes with rice and kimchi! Super tasty!

Recommend !

All i can say is YUM 👌
This place was bussin!! Not alot of menu items which made for an easier selection process. We got the kimchi cold noodles which were utter perfection. The jokbal wasn't great, the kimbap fell apart while trying to eat which wasnt ideal, still yum though. The jeon was freakin delicious and the fish cake was my fave..took me back to the streets of Haeundae after a wild night out, that was my go too hangover food. The broth is something else 💯💯

I like that there is a different kind of Korean food restaurant in Melbourne CBD rather than Korean BBQ or Korean fried chicken restaurants. I literally visited here to try GAMJATANG noodles and it was really tasty. It came out with small amount of noodles and a bowl of rice. Spicy beef Kimbap was really tasty and good price when you get a combo with any kind of noodles meal. Even Kimchi, the complimentary side dish was really fresh and tasty. Customer service was also good (you check-in, order and pay on your phone). Fried chicken was on average though. However, I will definitely come here again to try cold noodles(summer menu) and the other combo menu (noodles+kimbap).

A nice casual, canteen style restaurant on the busy food strip. The menu has few options but they are all staples in Korean cuisine. I really enjoyed my Kalguksu noodles with jokbal(sliced pigs trotter) which was full of flavour and generous servings. The sides were are made to a good standard. Will be back for more!

My go-to-place for lunch. Fresh noodle, not too spicy food and very tasty stock. Recommend seafood noodle, myeong dong noodle, blackbean sauce noodle and cold noodle (summer only)
Their kimbap is delicious too. Affordable price 👍🏻

'Guksu' means 'noodle soup' in Korean. And I am talking about one of those homey effortless noodle soups your grandma would make for you. Something made purely out of unconditional love. Never expected to see a restaurant dedicated to guksu on Swanston so we decided to visit.

Grabbed their Seafood Noodle Soup and Seafood Jeon. The noodle soup was decent with thick rich broth. Perfect for a cold winter day. Traditionally it's known to have this mild starchy flavour and I think they nailed it. Had plenty of quality seafoods. IMO, perfect hangover cure.

Seafood Jeon was surprisingly delicious. I enjoyed it much more than the noodle soup. I liked how they kept it thin and crispy (not a fan of thick & soggy type). We would've grabbed some rice wine if it wasn't too bright and foodcourt-like inside. Just didn't feel right. Overall, a good entry to experience Korean style noodle soup.

This is a new Korean restaurant which offers something different.

We ordered their guksu set menu, jeon, gimbap, and their homemade pumpkin rice drink.

Their guksu was great and was quite similar to the one I had in Korea few years ago.

The jeon was cooked using egg, not flour which I found interesting and tasty.

The gimbap was fresh and flavourful. Some places offer gimbap too but sometimes they are quite bland, but not at Guksu.

The place was busy and the staff were nice. We will come back to try more stuff from their menu.

Takeaway is available for the kimbap - I had the anchovy and pork one, found the former to be flavourful and lovely, the pork was alright.

Would recommend as a healthier option to a pizza :)

Discovered this place when looking for some dinner last minute. Great service and great food. Everything can be ordered via your phone (very handy including contract tracing currently), and cutlery is conveniently stored via drawers at each table.

I had the Shellfish Seafood Kalguksu and Jokbal separately (not as a combo). Both were great, but personally I like the Jokbal better. They also sell the korean banana milk.

Excellent service! Highly recommend!
They also gave us complimentary Tteokbokki because food has been delay but not that actually long!

A very good place if you're looking for original Korean food, and not overloaded with sauces. It is generally quite natural, and the noodles are very good quality. Price is also reasonable considering everything. Definitely recommend if you want to try some good Korean food.

Went here with my partner, and we ordered the Myeong-Dong kal-guksu and Gamjatang kal-guksu. Both had rich flavourful broths with perfectly cooked bouncy noodles. We found the portion sizes to be great value and were very satisfied by the end of our meal. A few things that we could pick on was the cleanliness of the place and the service, although they did look quite understaffed when we went (Easter weekend).
Overall this place is definitely worth a visit, they serve delicious food with good value. Don't expect stellar service or a sparkling clean restaurant, but if you're just looking for some good honest food, Guksu is the place for you.
