Dr Mark Troski

Absolutely professional, friendly and caring cataract specialist with a marvellous team, Dr Troski operated on my left eye just on 13 years ago and, last week, operated on my right eye. Both times I've felt reassured and calmed, both times the cataract removal and inter-ocular lens insertion has been perfectly executed, with the only side effects being a slight grogginess on the afternoon of the operation due to the anesthetic. Office team were great, all the arrangements made without a single hitch. We drove three days down from Queensland to have Dr Troski operate on my right eye; I cannot recommend Dr Troski highly enough.

Having a cataract operation on my very precious right eye was simply never a consideration for me. I have had severe eye trauma relating back to a major eye operation I had when I was a very young child. But my cataract was now severely limiting my activities and I was referred to Dr Mark Troski. Amazingly he was able to settle my anxiety with personal stories of successful procedures for people like me. I am now one week post op and can barely believe the changes to my sight.
So, given my unbelievable experience, I could not recommend Mark Troski more and now feel so positive about my sight.

I was very impressed by the standard of care I received from the moment I entered the office of Dr Mark Troski. The reception/administration staff were friendly, helpful and very organised.

Dr Troski and his staff did a great job in restoring my distance vision. Results were better than expected. I can now spot things from afar, see details in the night sky and clouds, and the additional light now reaching my eyes has added color to my world.
The whole experience of consultation and surgery was smooth and efficient. All involved were friendly, informative and helpful. I had options presented and discussed with me.
I felt only mild discomfort in my eyes for the two nights immediately after cataract surgery, but this was easily taken care of with some panadol tablets. My long distance vision has settled quickly and without complication.
I am still short-sighted and will require reading glasses, but this is easily managed.
I realise that I could have perhaps spent less with another ophthalmologist, but Dr Troski was recommended to me as one of the best in his field. I can only say that the painless experience and great results justify that recommendation.

I have had a lifetime of poor vision. I had 3 laser corrections 30 years ago which still didn't give me great vision but certainly an improvement on what I had. Over the years I slowly deteriorated and then cataracts started developing rapidly last year. I was so apprehensive moving forward with a full script as in the last 10 years it gave me double vision.
Dr Troski and his team did not believe it was due to a weak muscle (which I was always told) and after another specialists opinion about this was convinced to go ahead with full correction in both eyes.
I am so thrilled with the outcome!!!! I can't believe what I can see now and it is all due to Dr Troski and his team being patient and understanding talking me through my anxiety in regards to the double vision.

Couldn’t be happier! I’m writing this on my phone without my glasses. I can hardly believe it! Despite being a bit nervous, the whole process was seamless. First eye on the Monday. I already knew before the shield came off Tuesday morning that the sight in that eye had dramatically improved. Second eye on Thurs. By Friday morning the miracle was complete. Get ready for a rave review of Dr Mark Troski and his team!

I underwent Intra Ocular Lens replacement surgery with a highly experienced and well-respected ophthalmic surgeon ten years ago. The surgery has been a tremendous success, and, over the years, I have never been able to fault the care of this specialist. However, one year ago, I started noticing a clouding in my right eye. I consulted with this specialist, and – after a number of hours and the usual battery of test performed by bright shiny cutting edge diagnostic machines, and some hundreds of dollars – I was told that there was nothing wrong with the lens. It was possible that the issue was dry eyes or sun damage. I left with the feeling that the specialist and her team all felt the clouding was in my head.

After a month of observing an increase in the clouding, I consulted my optometrist who observed no particular significant dryness in the eye. He also did not feel that the problem was caused by sun damage. Instead, he felt that there was a very small sign of the build-up of scar tissue, or posterior capsular opacification (PCO). This did not surprise me, as I had had laser treatment for PCO in my left eye a couple of years post surgery.

So, I returned to my specialist. After three hours and the same battery of tests (noting that this time I was not charged the full cost, only partial), including a stroke test, I was told that there was nothing wrong with my eye. So, again, the problem was all in my head.

However, I knew it wasn’t in my head. So, I sought the advice of a different optometrist, this time thinking that the problem must be light sensitivity, and that transition lenses might help the problem. Matt Pease (Che Eyewear, Fitzroy) examined my eyes and noted a clear difference between the right and left eye. He suggested I seek a second opinion and referred me to Dr Mark Troski, with his rooms ringing me with an appointment within days of receipt of the referral.

On arrival at Dr Troski’s rooms, I was struck by the warmth and professionalism of his reception team. My appointment was at 11am, and within minutes of sitting down, I was called in to see Karen, Dr Troski’s ophthalmic assistant, who listened and took notes, tested my eyes and then dilated my pupils in readiness to see Dr Troski. I then waited the necessary 30 minutes, and, pretty well on the dot, was called by Dr Troski.

Dr Troski sat down with me and asked for my story. He grabbed his cup of coffee – so I knew he was in for the long haul – and proceeded to listen with care, warmth, and just the right amount of humour in response to my 'epic saga'.

After patiently listening to me, he simply said something like “I remember learning many years ago that if a patient describes a horse, it’s unlikely to be a zebra.” He then said, “well, let’s just take a look and see if there is any PCO. It will only take a minute, and then at least we can count it out.”

Less than a minute later, after commencing the quick, painless laser treatment, he said “You are my favourite patient of the day. It’s PCO.” A couple of minutes later, Dr Troski led me out to reception, and said “We’re done.” Where I immediately proceeded to burst into tear. I must admit feeling a little worried for the other people in the waiting room – though Dr Troski announced, with his lovely sense of humour, “Don’t worry. It’s happy tears.”

I cannot recommend Dr Troski highly enough. Everything about my experience was one that demonstrated the utmost care and respect for his patients. From his lovely, warm, professional team, to their collective respect for patient wait-times, culminating in my consultation and treatment with Dr Troski himself.
