Gorgeous spot for a walk/hike through the oak forest and beyond, especially mid to late May with the leaves turning and endless fascinating species of fungi and mushroom. Nice free camping spot all year round with basic but clean facilities - great for families with heaps of lovely trails of varying length and fitness capacity. Great for daily walkers like us (whose dog will one day hopefully develop a nose for truffles)

What an amazingly beautiful place this is. A peaceful and pretty place, we spent a few hours foraging for mushrooms and other fungi to photograph. It was a very fruitful afternoon.

Great Free camp not many spots.
Busy with day MTB people and on weekends.
Nice fireplaces to cook on.
Interesting history Back in 1900, the Lands Department cleared 20 acres at Picnic Gully and planted a variety of oaks, mostly Valonia Oaks. The venture was aimed at providing acorns in large quantities for the local tanning industry. Although the Valonia Oaks are mostly gone, some of the other oaks became well established, thriving to this day.

Beautiful and serene place, best experienced in late Spring or Summer when the Oak leaves are at their largest (unlike us when we visited in early Spring). On the downside, the dirt road is woefully bad and full of potholes so drive slowly and carefully. Toilet facilities are also not worth mentioning as they are 3rd rate at best. Probably better to avoid using them at all....no toilet paper or sanitary hand wash anyway. But, the site is a wonderful place, worth every minute to experience.

Great place to explore and get a good workout at the same time. Bike riders are a bit crazy, they didn't have much respect for nature or the people who were walking along the tracks.

Great park if you're into camping and hiking, big trials for bikers. The oak trees are beautiful particularly in autumn

Very lush and verdant. There was little fungi action due to the lack of rain the past few days. But what was there was lovely to take photos of. Becareful not to eat the red mushrooms.

Always a good time in the Oak Forest, if it's for a BBQ or even a sneaky night away it will never disappoint. Nice tracks for a hike and even a new MTB track for all the adrenaline junkies.

On Easter Sunday each year, the Harcourt progressive committee hosts an Easter Egg for children in The Oak Forest at Harcourt. A fun time searching for eggs in the wild forest!

Amazing place but unfortunately the recent additions of mountain bike trails have turned this little secret place into an over crowded and noisy place.
