Super affordable price for the quantity and taste - $10 for plain rice + 3 dishes! Feels very homemade and plenty of options for everyone! Staff were also very warm and friendly. Missed having Malaysian/Singaporean food so dining here made my day :D

Home cooked food feels. Choose a few dishes to go with your rice (try the coconut rice, very yum) 4-5 vegan options available. Plenty of permutations to try!

A good place to come frequently, especially for UniMelb students. Great food for value - only $10 for 2 choices of meat and a veggie (egg counts as a veggie here fyi!). I heard that food here is authentic Malay style. The uncle and auntie are very nice and welcome too!

Overall the $10 combo was good and just enough to keep myself from not being hungry. If you want more, extra meat costs $3.

This is definitely an hidden germ if you are looking for very authentic Malaysian food. They have varieties of curry and it is super tasty. You can mix and choose whatever you wanted. They deep fried fish give the crunch you need for your rice. You can also choose coconut rice if wanted. Price are definitely affordable. This restaurant is medium size. Big group are welcome. Staff are very friendly, but sometimes can be very busy. Walking distance to Melbourne central. Plenty of car parking nearby. Very convenient with public transport. Tram stop is just outside.

For only 10 bucks (rice w 2 meat, 1 veg) the portion is definitely reasonable and the food tastes good.

It’s also not too salty or oily imo so it’s a great option for lunch!

This is a cash only place. Tried the Roti Murtabak which was like a thick paratha with chicken fillings along with curry & Nasi Goreng Kampung this is a must try dish it tasted like Mumbai Fried Rice only thing is ask them not to put the dry fish topping.

Great taste, good portion, affordable, and friendly service. I love their ayam goreng/fried chicken and rendang very much. Taste like mom's cooking.

Coming from Singapore this place is a little slice of home I wasn't expecting to find in Carlton! The entire restaurant feels like it was cut and pasted straight from Malaysia and walking inside makes me feel like I'm right back where I grew up. Everything tastes home-cooked and the staff are always super lovely. The Nasi Padang is by far the most legitimate I've tasted anywhere in my 4 years living in Melbourne. I wholeheartedly believe this is a business everyone should support.

A must-know place if you're a uni student!!! I was in tears when I saw that Norsiah's kitchen was still open and that the same owners (Aunty & Uncle) were there. I used to frequent this place for lunch when I was at uni (a long time ago) so dining here brought back many memories.

The food tasted the same: wholesome and homemade, like your Singaporean/Malaysian friend's mother's cooking. It was also not too salty, which was good!

You can't go wrong with the 2 meat + 1 veg with coconut rice. I had this plus an extra veg dish for $1. I also had a canned drink for $2. Definitely opt for the fried chicken and one of the curries - you won't regret it!

All up, it cost me $11+1+2 = $14! What a steal for a lovely homecooked, filling meal.

Delicious and authentic! Extremely value for money, staff are very friendly as well. Do try their beef rendang :) fyi they are open on Mondays - Fridays between 11am - 5:30pm

Incredible value! $8 for a generous serve of rice with 2 meat and 1 vegetable dish. Service was warm and prompt, food was delicious and authentic. I’m surprised this place wasn’t bursting at the seams as I came during lunch time.

Amazing amazing place - serving up delicious Malay food from the bain marie for $10 (2 meat 1 veg), where else can you find such a deal in all of Australia? Lovely family running the place as well. I live next door and work from home with a busy schedule - I come here at least 2/3 times a week and never get sick of it. What a gem.

Incredibly authentic nasi padang. Expect cheap and delicious comfort food. For $8 you get to pick 3 dishes (2 meat + vege) to have with rice. Pro tip: If you didnt pick a curry dish, you can always request for curry (without the meat) to be poured over your rice (on top of your included 3 dishes) at no charge.
