I sit stay at the hotel but ordered takeaway

Steak mashed potato and pumpkin salad.

Service was friendly fast and efficient and the food was amazing.

The steak sandwich was the absolute best I’ve ever had! Yum! The silver haired lady in the kitchen is a machine.. she’s serving delicious food and helping to take it out and still so incredibly friendly. What an angel!

Fantastic! Local Rump steak and two sides, the biggest piece of steak I have had in a long time, cooked to perfection, fantastic chips and an amazing side salad. Really reasonable price. Kids selection huge meals as well. Don't walk passed walk in!

We decided to eat here as unlike the other pubs they announced their chef. The menu lacked intrigue and the decor left a bit to be desired (unless you like wobbly tables) but the food was excellent. Everything else paled once you tried the food. I had the roast pork, it was cooked perfectly, and was accompanied by 7 different vegetables (peas, green beans, pumpkin, zucchini, carrot, corn, roast potato) and absolutely spot on. Presentation was good.
My wife's chicken was just as good and accompanied in a similar way.
If I had a pub that did food like this as my local, I'd eat there few times a week at least. This may have been the best pub meal I've every had.

Stayed here overnight when travelling to pick up my new pup . Room was Spotless and recently renovated . Comfy bed . And the manager was Friendly honest over_all just a really decent country person . Would stay again if ever in Tumut . So far as to say if I was doing a road trip . Would stay there just because it was very clean ,comfy . And value for the price which was very very reasonable 🤔

I finally know what happiness feels like, this is hands down the best parmigiana I’ve ever had, or sadly will have.

It must come with a warning label, it will ruin your standards for any other parmigiana out there.

I’m not from around here and now I don’t even know where home is anymore after having this beautiful piece of perfection….

Great place for lunch - we had the three cheese nachos, calamari and cheesy garlic bread. They were all delicious. The kids also enjoyed their nuggets and carbonara pasta. Good service at the bar and we enjoyed trying some of the local Tumut River Brewing Co beers.

Great country pub, friendly staff and excellent food of enormous proportions.
The Cumulus wines Rolling cab merlot was excellent.
I had a brontosaurus rump steak cooked to perfection with mushroom sauce and my wife had prawn pasta dish that was also of mammoth proportions and delicious, but...
There was WAY, WAY too much garlic. My wife will be immune from vampires for at least a decade and mosquitoes will also think twice@

I am required to travel to Tumut regularly, the bistro meals ( steaks) are first class, probably one of the best steaks in recent memory
The staff are friendly and give a good atmosphere

Been working in tumut for months and this is by far the best feed in town. They have nailed my steak perfectly 5 times in a row. Definitely worth having a beer and a feed

We really enjoyed our dinner at the hotel, the dishes were delicious! I will warn you though, the meals are HUGE , and I mean HUGE. We bought the seniors meals, and there was plenty on our plates. Will definitely eat there again 👍

Great pub feed here. Generous serves, great quality and reasonably priced. Highly recommend. Can't comment on rooms as I stayed elsewhere.

Short Review: that was probably the best meal I’ve ever had

Long Review: It was a warm spring Sunday night and I had just awoke from a nap with a rumbling stomach. Cheese toasties came to mind and as I was stood in my kitchen staring at the toastie maker, a memory of my work mate’s voice came to me... “you should go to the Royal if you need a good feed, the steaks are good”. I tried to dismiss the voice but all I heard was “Steak. Steak. Stea...” echoing inside my head. I checked the time, it was 7:40pm and I figured I could probably get there before they stop serving meals for the night, so I grabbed the keys and sprinted to the car.

When I arrived the place wasn’t too busy and wasn’t too quiet, just right. I walked towards the bar and checked the menu, even though I knew what I wanted; a good old T-bone. I ordered my meal and a beer and proceeded to drink the beer and smoke a cigarette in the outside area at the back. The beer was ice cold, the beer was good.

I walked back inside and took a seat and before long the buzzer in my pocket started to vibrate, my left eyebrow raised and I stood up to go collect what I had been waiting for.
The plate was full, and it was a big plate. Almost overflowing with chips and salad with a huge T-bone on top looking like it was cooked to perfection. I cut a chunk off and confirmed that it was indeed cooked to perfection. I took a brief glance around to make sure nobody was looking and then took a photo of the meal to send to my family back in England, even they were impressed and they couldn’t taste it.

After a short time the food had run out and I could barely move, feeling the skin stretching around my full belly. I let the girls in the kitchen know it was amazing, drank another beer and left feeling more than satisfied with the night.

Delicious food of very generous proportions. Comfortable and inviting spaces including dining, bar and beer garden.
Uber friendly country hospitality from the staff. Joe the glassy a always smiling and going above and beyond.

Wow the food here is amazing. Husband had steak (cooked to perfection) and I had Warm Beef Thai Salad, perfect and plenty of beef in the meal.

Some of the best food I have ever had at a pub. Portion size was very generous, The steak burger was a highlight

They have a reduced menu at the moment. I had lamb cutlets with gravy. All I can say is that the meal was magnificent THANKYOU.

The food here is 2nd to none, always tastes amazing and the serving size is absolutely spot on if you enjoy a big meal.

Great pub, great accommodation. Excellent food and always plenty of action on a Saturday night.

Went for dinner for birthday and as usual great meal,as usual stuggled to clean my plate ad the meals are more than ample, if your hungry The Royal is the go.
