Murray's run culvert

Great place to stop and stretch your legs. A piece of early colonial engineering on display as part of the original road north out of Sydney. Amazing to sit and reflect on the hardship experienced by the convict stone workers and to also admire the exquisite workmanship.

Tranquil and steeped in history, the Murray's Run Culvert is worth taking a moment to call in and appreciate its beauty and significance.

Made from sandstone, hand tooled by convicts in 1830. It is amazing it has stood the test of time.

Great little historic place to stop & rest, take a look atound or simoly enjoy the serenity!

Nice little spot to stop for a little picnic, and have a look at an historic piece of the old Great North Road.

Very special to see and find this historically significant place.

It's a quiet, secluded place. I've only stopped here a few times, usually to have a coffee that I've had with me. The views are lovely, the history interesting and the wildlife if you're fortunate enough to see it will make you smile.

Worthy of mention is the road. For the most part (in and out) is a nice drive (for those who like that your if thing). There are some rough patches but not too daunting. I'm sure a sports bike would be a hoot, at legal speeds of course.

Awesome drive to what is now a hole in the ground between the new and old roads. It is a sandstone wall with a water way. Historically significant and a nice view when looking away from the culvert, but that is really it. If you have come from the Central Coast, take Murray's Run Road back. It's mostly dirt and can be rough in parts but makes a really nice loop.
