Such a great place to bring the family! And free! If you're lucky there will be a volunteer working at the General Store. Well worth a visit.

Didn't know such a large and informative museum existed here..it shows the rich history of the area and mining era not only in pictures and small artifacts but the real houses bright here from that era. There is the full rail station with engine and coaches, streets and houses. Incredible.

Excellent stroll through history with many articles on display with free entry. Also 2 art galleries are worth browsing. Nice stop on the way back from Wilsons Prom. We took about an hour to do a lap of the village.

Great place to see decommissioned buildings from the early settlers in Australia. They are preserved perfectly and it's important to understand how little they people had to start a new life down under. I recommend it.

Best experience of an open air museum. The society has literally frozen the past. I felt myself in olden times when there was no internet no modern day high end machines. It was really an educational tour.

This has been the highlight of my trip to VIC, I really wish I spent more time exploring! It's like jumping in a time machine and going back 100 years. Some parts were closed off and there was a few things that could have been fixed up, but it's still definitely a 5 star place, truly mind blowing. The best historical museum I have ever seen.

Beautiful and historic place to visit. I love the old buildings and that you can go inside and look at many of the interesting features. Its a lovely walk, grocery store could be open more often, and change some of the gifts around. Would like to see more buildings open and selling wares. People would buy items to support the museum. I would.

Cool place, similar to Ballarat, but less touristic, less people, so it’s easier to enjoy and the views!
Also, it’s free of charge!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Coal Creek. Free entry, with a self guided tour. A lot of history with great buildings and items from past. Wonderful volunteers that work there. Our visit to the General Store was a highlight with endless information from the volunteer on the day.
Some of the buildings were closed on our visit, however we could still view via windows and read the information.
Donations are needed to help preserve and update some of the park attractions. We will be back.

The place is very quiet and the staffs are very friendly. There is no ticket to get into the park.
Just enjoy the old day’s equipment there. The trains are only for display not for transport anymore 😹

An amazing spot for family and friends to visit and immerse themselves in an often forgotten era.
Big thanks to all the staff and volunteers who make Coal Creek what it is. A special thanks for all the effort everyone went to for the 2023 Halloween event! It was a fantastic evening for those that were lucky enough to attend. Really appreciate how special you made it for the children. Thanks again!

We absolutely loved our day there, everything is kept in great condition, since Covid19 the volunteers have not returned, it would have been lovely to have some of the shops open, despite that we had a fantastic day, the six Grandchildren with us had so much fun, also learnt a lot, it's free entry but I was glad to put a donation in the box on our way out👍😘

A hidden gem! A weekend trip to this community museum will be very special. Beautiful location with bbq and toilet facilities on site and bus caravan parking. The drive from Melbourne through the rolling hills and beautiful countryside will refresh your day. Must visit

This place is free! It's a lovely little historical village. Coal Creek was the sight of a coal mine, and they've restored a lot of historical artefacts which they have on display in the various shop fronts. There's a court house, complete with jail, a church, leather good stores, animal hide stores, horse and buggy mechanics, and more. We had a lot of fun! It's also rich in plants true to the time when the coal mine was operating. There's a steam train on site, not in use of course. It was one of the coal transport trains. And there's a duck named Bill. You might catch him if you're lucky.
