Well worth taking the walk or ride along the easy 5km river trail with its many interesting features.
The lock is impressive, its size and the amount of water it holds back.
The work that went into building this and the engineering behind it is impressive.
Alongside the lock is a flood marker board, I was blown away with flood heights with 1870 being a big one.
Having seen many locks in the UK I would have loved to watch a paddle boat go through this one.

A very interesting spot especially if your timing is right to see a houseboat go through the lock. The walk in the gardens was pleasant n cafe by the river good

Easy access, you can walk across the lock which is something that cannot usually be done. The island is on the other side, not much to see there but it is part of a working lock so really a marvel of engineering.

Interesting to see how the lock works to let boats go up and down the river by changing the level of water in the lock.

A real life experience to watch how a lock works. The gates are not leaking and I just can't understand how can they do that!? Super engineering power :)
