Interesting and educational on the history of submarines, inside the museum there is a section of a submarine where you step inside and feel what it is like to sleep and work in a confine area, there is also a working periscope you can operate, respectable price $5 concession, staff are helpful and courteous, highly recommend this museum

One of the must do stopover when driving between Melbourne and Sydney/Canberra.

I know its weired to imagine a submarine displayed inland but hey the name of this town was changed to honour decorated WW1 hero Lt Norman Douglas Holbrook who captained the unsinkable terror (submarine HMS B11).

The submarine displayed is the hull of real HMS B11 submarine and you can see the sheer size of it.

The museum is great as it offers a great insight into the life of the mariners in submarine. There are 6 displays to showcase various sections of the submarine.

They have a good 3d holographic story narration for the curious minds that takes you through the achivements of HMS B11.

What a treasure! The smaller the town in Australia....the bigger the heart. Holbrook is a friendly, interesting and lovely town. Definately worth a visit.

Due to a detour off the Hume Hwy, I stopped for some photos. I remember stopping here when I was young, on our trips to visit family in Sydney. Now there’s a museum and a café next to the HMAS Otway submarine. Though small, the museum was pretty great. There’s a recreated bridge of the same submarine, a look through the periscope and a hologram show telling the story of the submariner, the town’s name and the submarine. Worth a stop if you’re driving past.

I've been dropping by here on my travels since I was a child. It was nice to take my own kids here! The cafe does great food and the submarine is a blast no matter what age.

Amazingly informative. Haven't been since I was a kid, and so much makes sense now. The museum is fantastic. So sad for the town they moved the Submarine base to W.A., but the history and affection lives on

A little treasure of Australian history.
It's impressive to find such a monument in a small, quiet town & not in a big city.
More people need to know of this place & if possible visit.
Keep the history alive.

Well, this certainly came as a surprise on our journey from Canberra to Melbourne on 17 April 2023.

We got great weather and the stop off at the submarine broke up the continuous views of fields, cattle and rolling hills.

We have not been here in about 10 years. We took our daughter and she loved it. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the hologram.

If you love submarines or want to know what it is like to be in a submarine, then you must visit the museum. Being able to look at the size of the submarine in the park and climb over it is such a treat for kids . . . Of all ages.

Well worth spending 15$ for the family to go through the museum. Very cool stuff you don't see often and a great insight into submarine life.
