The Virgin Kitchen

Giving 5 stars because management (Oliver) turned what could have been a disappointing night into a wonderful experience. We were celebrating my sister’s upcoming wedding and we were looking forward to handmade pasta and steak but it was Wednesday locals night and the menu was different. So we cancelled our reservation and we were heading off to find an alternative. Oliver came to speak to us and asked what we would like to eat. Understanding our requests and the special occasion that it was, he spoke to the kitchen and they specially cooked up prawn tagliatelle for us and their signature virgin steak. We had champagne, compliments of the restaurant and my sister (bride to be) was so impressed by the service and throughout the evening, the staff and kitchen outdid themselves. Mom commented that the steak was the best that she’d had for a long time and so appealingly presented. The beetroot hummus with the salmon was deliciously tangy and for the first time in a long time, every dessert was perfect. From start to end, our night was so enjoyable, made so by impeccable service and well prepared food. Thank you to the team who gave us a night to remember.

The staff were super friendly and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere very pleasant (we went back the next morning for breakfast too!). While waiting for the starters, we had a stroll through the garden in the back. We both would highly recommend dining here, or come to get a drink.

We had both breakfast and lunch here. We ate breakfast inside the restaurant and were lucky enough that the weather allowed us to have a beautiful lunch outside in the garden area. The Virgin Kitchen is a beautiful restaurant. staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food is of high-quality. The eggs with truffle sauce were very special and my husband was very happy with his big breakfast. For lunch we had the steak sandwich, salad and fries with a couple glasses of wine, everything was delicious.

Absolutely beautiful meals here, the coffee was perfect, sometimes you get given quite offensive coffee, barky, bitter … not here … divine! The selection of meals are great, the staff and manager are very professional, nice and friendly to talk to. Definitely a place to get all your meals from if staying in Hepburn. 😀
The gardens out the back are well worth a nice walk also, and you can bring your doggies and sit in the outside dining area!

Presently surprised to stumble upon such a great restaurant. We went for a lunch mid week after a hike in the surrounding areas.
We were met with lovely staff, beautiful grounds and great food.
My partner had the crispy chicken burger and said it was one of the best chicken burgers he had ever eaten. I had the steak sandwich gluten free and loved it. We also had the local sodas which were very refreshing.
It was great to see simple meals executed perfectly.

Excellence in hospitality food, wines, beers & cocktails and decor inside and out. On a fine warm Sunday afternoon choose between the rear or front outside dining. There is an ornate fountain in a beautiful garden / lawn area in the rear. The staff are great with friendly service and smiles all round. I come here to chill out on regular basis after my orange peel powder stall at the Daylesford Station on every Sunday. Nice way to wind down after a busy day. Lauren is my regular awesome waitress!

Went to Melbourne for a vacation. Decided to explore the surrounding areas and stopped by this place. It was great. The name caught my attention.

The best food. The best location and the best service I've had in Melbourne.

Our waitress was so great. Didn't catch her name but she said she was from Ballarat? The blonde lady. Management, if you see this, give the woman a raise. Seriously, best service I've had! We were there on Sep 29 afternoon/night.

The food was the best I had in Victoria as well. The slow cooked chicken was my fav.

Absolutely loved dining here , the steak and Brocolini were cooked to perfection , while it is a very busy restaurant the staff remain happy , friendly and fast paced to deliver a service that is definitely worth 5 stars. Thank you for the great care taken to ensure both myself and my daughter had the most pleasurable experience , I will definitely be back to enjoy the outside experience next time *****

Whilst staying at the attached hotel me and my partner decided to have breakfast here on a lovely sunny morning, straight away we were greeted kindly by the staff.
we chose to eat outside under some trees, the view of the garden and fountain and the beautiful hotel was the best part of the experience but not the only great thing. Even though it was reasonably busy our food and coffee with was us within 15-20 minutes, the quality and quantity of the food was exceptional. On the higher side price wise for some but in my opinion well worth the experience. One of our favourite breakfast spots to this date.

First time there for dinner. Excellent introduction with a beautiful looking indoor area. It was a beautiful night so we opted to ead outside. It was SPECTACULAR. Honestly, it is probably one of the most beautiful outdoor setting I have seen in a long time.

The staff were fantastic, honest and looked after the diners. The menu is on the small side, but the quality of the food more than makes up for that. The wine selection was lovely and there was a number of local/Victorian wines on offer.

The kitchen was immaculate and the chefs attentive and on their game. Overall, it was an excellent night, great food, great location and excellent service.

Being new to the area it is somewhere that we will definitely go again. Many thanks to all the staff!

Loved the Choices on the Menu. Steaks arrived perfectly done to our request and satisfaction. Excellent ambience and staff were engaging professional. Attention to detail was very much appreciated.

Beautiful and relaxing outdoor dining. Awesome service, best we’ve experienced in some time. Food was fresh, delicious and perfectly prepared.

The food and staff at Virgin Kitchen are first class. Eight of us ate there tonight, and everyone was extremely impressed with their meals. The service was first class and the staff are very efficient and extremely friendly.
The only thing we had a small problem with was the noise. It was very busy and with the .any voices and the addition of music, it was extremely difficult to hear anyone speaking.
We would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants an excellent meal.

The food was outstanding, service was excellent and the location was stunning.
We had dinner outside on a warm night and it was just beautiful. Lunch inside was just as nice with the tasteful decor.

Had dinner and breakfast. Great food, coffee and wine. Helpful, attentive waiters. Wonderful interior design with open kitchen - I love that. The outside garden area was perfect for a warm summer morning sitting in the shade. Highly recommend.

Such a lovely restaurant with the staff just as great as the food! I was trying to juggle pool time, kids and dinner. The staff and Chef went beyond to accommodate us, and we enjoyed a spectacular feast! Everything was delicious but the lamb and choc pavlova were particular stand outs. Thanks guys!

Was a surprising gem. Wasn't expecting this level of delivery. Aside from the long wait for our food, the taste of each dish was on point. Flavours were delicious-subtle yet tasty. The chocolate dessert was about on par with "om nom" in the city. We'll be sure to visit one more before we leave.

Matthew and the Virgin Kitchen team went way above and beyond in making sure our large group were looked after for our family post wedding brunch. Their communication and attention to detail prior to the day meant that all our meals were served promptly, nothing was too much trouble and a glass of champagne even provided for the newly weds! It meant the world to our family who aren't able to get together very often. Thank you so much!
