The Bao Project

The lunch set is great value for money and super tasty! Located at hidden location on Level 01. Has outdoor terrace, too.

The food is great..hands down one of the best contemporary eats and hidden gems Melbourne has to offer. A great menu influenced by asian fusion that is flavourful, fresh and easy on the palette. My favourite hands down is the Katsu Chicken Bao...a real gastronomic delight, that I generally have two. Highly recommend ....the staff were also very friendly and polite..and there was a real hip vibe to the establishment.

Biggest and best baos in the city!

Bao-tastic

We were in the city and really fancied gua bao. This place came up and the reviews sounded really good so we went.
Staff were friendly enough but food was extremely disappointing a d lacked any sort of flavour.
The slaw on all 4 bao was out of a readymade supermarket bag and had zero seasoning or anything at all added.
The tofu, pumpkin, chicken and pork belly were all lacking in flavour.
No garnishes like in real bao, like coriander, spring onion etc...

A member of staff cleared plates away but not once were we asked how the food was.

I'm sure there are more authentic places in the city.

We also had a portion of veggie buns, which, I believe, were out of a packet.
All very underwhelming.
