Breakneck Gorge Retreat

Absolutely stunning place to stay! Peaceful, secluded and luxurious.

Arthur gave us a friendly welcome tour of the place and showed us how to use the climate controls and then left us to enjoy the rest of the stay. We really appreciated the extra little touches such as having ice cream, juices, yoghurt and water bottles stocked up in the fridge as well as chips and fresh bread amongst other things too!

There are kangaroos that come right up close and make sure to step outside at night to enjoy the stars. We would definitely come back.

Review, June 2023: We had an amazing five-day stay at Oikos in Daylesford. After falling in love with the place in June 2022, we eagerly booked our return. Anticipation built throughout the year, and when we finally arrived, our stay was just as perfect as we remembered. The accommodation was beautiful and well thought through, with stunning views of Hepburn Springs. We enjoyed occasional visits from kangaroos, wallabies, birds, and foxes. We felt so recharged after our stay at Oikos and can't wait to come back to this piece of paradise again.

Review, June 2022: Beautiful place, gorgeous views and wonderful hosts. We loved our time here and the only regret we had was that we didn't stay longer. Will definitely be back!

Wow wow wow. Our stay at Oikos was perfect. This accommodation is only 2 years old and looks like it’s 0 days old given how pristine clean it is. There was literally nothing that could have done with another wipe down or a dust, a standard I’ve never come across before. The views are somehow so much better than the pictures, even though the pictures already look amazing. It’s very clear why this building won architectural awards - you can see the most amazing views from all rooms and the angles in the house are really beautiful. We so loved waking up to a rolling view down to the town and sitting in the day bed (wide enough for 2) looking out over the kangaroos (who were about 15 metres from the window) and beautiful sunset. Arthur, the owner, was so welcoming and showed us around quickly before leaving us to it without sticking around too long (like some other owners accidentally do). We appreciated him confirming that no one could look in to the windows so that we knew we had privacy. He clearly is very proud, justifiably. We were able to cook all our meals in the modern, tidy kitchen. We will be back.

Stayed at Oikos and this place is absolutely stunning. There are great views from every window and its honestly so cool to see the animals so close to the property. On the first night, the kangaroos were all around the property (still at a safe distance though), and on the second day there were two cows grazing near the house. The property is at a great distance from the other property Akora as well, so you definitely get your own privacy. 100% recommend this place if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Also Arthur had come to greet us when we arrived and showed us around, he was so sweet! The amount of love and pride he had for the house really showed and it just made me love it even more. I also just wanted to say thank you so much again for opening up this property and sharing it with everyone, it seriously is such an amazing house to stay at and we will definitely be back 🥰

Oikos is sublime! Art at it’s highest form. Architectural excellence incorporating natural materials that complement the unique Australian landscape of Breakneck Gorge. We were blessed with postcard views from every room. The golden hour was pure bliss, offering up a sensational sunset that teased our senses as it lit up the western horizon. Immaculate attention to detail, superb fittings (including an oversized “egg like” black cast concrete soaking tub!) make this an unforgettable experience, reflective of the warm and welcoming hospitality (from the owners and the resident kangaroos!)

Stayed 2 nights at Akora and was super impressed. Place was really clean and Arthur was very welcoming, greeted us on arrival. We had such a great time enjoying the spa bath and the wild kangaroos living on the property.

We stayed here for 1 night and were extremely impressed. The attention to detail in both the property and the Oikos unit were the best I’ve ever seen. When we arrived, the owner of the property, Arthur, happened to be there (we got there a little early) and he was really delightful. He gave us a really quick 2minute tour and explained a few things. There was some really nice chocolates, a fresh loaf of bread and plenty of tea, coffee and milk.

We highly recommend this property. It’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for. It’s also probably the first time over ever stayed somewhere that the photos don’t do it justice! We were really impressed.

We stayed at BNG for our wedding anniversary and noticed straight away that the property was taken care of really well. We loved meeting Arthur and getting shown around the property - what a lovely and generous man!
You also feel like you’re the only one there, it’s so nice and private and the spa and the fireplace were so lovely.
Such a great spot and the views were amazing! You will not be disappointed!

Stayed in Akora and it is the perfect place for a cosy, relaxing getaway. The views are amazing from all directions with kangaroos hopping around everywhere! So nice to chill out in the spa with a glass of wine appreciating the sunset and then coming into the lovely warm fire. Little touches like jam made by the next door neighbours were nice too! Would love to come back!

We enjoyed 2 nights at BNG Oikos for our post wedding mini-moon. The accommodation is Five star, and the surroundings are breathtaking. Views over Hepburn all the way through to Daylesford, Kangaroo's grazing just outside the window - wildlife everywhere. We will most definitely return for some relaxation again and highly recommend to anyone considering a gorgeous getaway!

I have two points. 1) The retreat was so nice, we didn't really want to leave the property to explore the area and 2) We will only book Breakneck Gorge Oikos the next time we stay in the area. Loved it and highly recommend. When you do book, keep it a secret from your partner, they will be so happy when they arrive!

I love it so much!!! A warm welcome by the friendly owner on arrival. It is a best place to relax and to be embraced by the beautiful by the nature!
