I was a former student here , just graduated one year ago. I paid 40 k aud to study here and all I get was restriction to use the facilities in gateway building trinity. Currently, I am a student in university in Melbourne. The thing is, I wanted to use a piano in gateway building. At that moment, there was nobody in the room and nobody was using the piano too. Suddenly, one student in charge barged in and rudely, told me that you have to book the room if you want to use it, unless nobody booked the room and you can use awhile. Okay, so, nobody booked the room right? So why restrict me from using it? Fine, I'll book the room, but guess what? The person in charge said no, harshly. But, why? Here comes the rules and regulations of trinity college : you must be a current student studying foundation in trinity If you want to book the room. But the problem is, I paid so much money to study here and I can't use it just because I graduated 1 year ago? And isn't trinity college a part of university of Melbourne? To be exact, isn't trinity college UNDER university of Melbourne? I'm still part of university of Melbourne alright? I'm still an alumni of trinity alright? So by what means and by what reason I can't use the facilities? What kind of rules and regulation is this? Does this mean that once I stopped paying money to this college and hence I cannot use it despite the fact that I'm still paying money to university of Melbourne? And to restrict a former student, yes you may do that for safety reasons but as long as I'm still a student from this school and this university WHICH I'm ALSO a former student graduated only ONE year ago, thus I have the rights to use the facilities in this school, if not , can you tell me why should I pay so much to study here just to hear people saying no rudely whenever we want to use a facility? So by restricting me from using the facilities, does it mean that you're afraid that I will steal the piano? Or does it mean it I will purposely sabotage the piano for no reason? Or does it mean that I have to PAY another 40 k just to USE the piano that I MAY have contributed or MAY be contributing the money for trinity college to allegedly buy and place this piano in the room? If this is how you implement rules and regulation to ensure the safety of your property, it means that they only care about those who are paying money to you right now, despite the fact that I'm also paying money to university of Melbourne , which is indirectly paying money to you too. Further more, not only this incident has proven that this college is just focusing on receiving and counting money they obtained from international students like us, there are a lot other matters that can be stated by me and my other friends who have studied here. My piece of advice is that, do not treat former student harshly, as we are the ones who contributed money to you and that is what you use to build this gateway building. If this rules and regulation does not change, I will definitely not recommend any of my relatives and friends or further students to attend this college, as all I can see in this college that they love your money more than anything else.
