Golden Mountain Lookout

Nice walk up the hill or fun easy 4x4 track. Great views from the lookout & plenty of rocky outcrops/boulders shaded by large Eucalypts trees. Also saw a wallaby, Grey Fan-Tail & Whip birds. State Park means pups can join you. Might even take the horses back for a trail ride.

What a stunning lookout. If you have access to or own a 4wd I would highly recommend making this a place to see. On a clear sunny day you can see Lake Eildon, Booniedoon, Maindample, and the Paps. Caution if you have young kids with you as there is no fall protection from the cliff edge.

Most definitely 4x4 only track up to the top of Golden Mt, easy drive to the 4x4 track....

We went up via the north Ferraris Link track, requires a four wheel drive to get up that way. Met some bikers who informed us the other way is worse off with a couple fallen trees. Drive is good for 2WD up until about 300m from the peak, then you need a 4WD for the last stretch (which can be walked)
Great view, one or two flat spots for a small tent.
If you head up behind the lookout there is also a flat area to camp with a couple cool rocks.

Beautiful spot to spend sometime and as name suggests gives a great view. We were there evening to see the sunset. Driving from ferraris link track - Golden mountain track. Golden mountain track is rutted and requires 4wd access.

If you can make your way up here by either motorcycle or 4x4 well worth it 😁

Must see location for 4 wheel driving or trail riding!

Nice lookout though can be difficult to get to without a 4WD.
