This is a really nice park. It has a BBQ grill, two public drinking water fountains, dog friendly, open grass area, jungle gym for kids, swings, slides, a nice cafe adjacent to it and it's right next to Elsternwick train station. It also gets a lot of beautiful direct sun light on nice days. A great place to have a picnic. (About the drinking water fountains, they are quite powerful, so press lightly at first, or it might spray in your face, which is really nice on a hot day😉)

I used to come here a lot as a kid back in 1985 and I liked it for the way it once was here. While I get that kids may need a makeshift playground in the back, pulling out and deforesting the local trees (including the unique zig zag footpath) that used to be so prevalent was a terrible but predictable idea from the local council. The trees and fauna that used to be here were decades old, providing great shade from both the sun and the rain are now gone as it's too open and barren as are the old comfy wood and metal table/chair instalments with the red and sometimes checked (to play chess on) are all gone. It's a concrete jungle that gets to hot to sit on and it's too open without the once over hanging trees to provide shade and shelter from the rain. Maybe that's what the council were after here?! A bare bones post Marxist structure here well they certainly did it. I also miss the old shops (especially the opp shop that used to be there) that have been replaced with boring coffee stands. I guess removing all the trees and the destruction of the habitat was the core idea so the council wouldn't have to spend money of cleaning the environment via the leaves and local wildlife dropping as well?! A sorry state of a place that I once loved as a kid. More minimalist neo communist egregious ideas that destroy our unique heritage and building ideas!!! A big MEH!!!!!
