Torres Strait Eco Adventures

We have not long returned from a fantastic week with Dirk. We stayed on Prince of Wales Island and were out in the boat with him every day. Dirk is an easy going host with vast knowledge and a terrific sense of humour. He fitted in easily with our family of 6 and it felt like we had known him for ever. The location is incredible for people who love to get away and Dirk himself enhances the whole experience. Highly recommend!

Wow!! What a trip. We have just returned from Prince of Wales Island in the Torres Strait with our Son and Daughter in Law. Dirk Laifoo was our guide for the week who has a passion for his home and made sure that this was a trip of a lifetime. He took us fishing, guided tours of the various islands, and a fantastic trip to the Cape. Instead of going overseas in search of unique holidays, go to the Torres Strait, meet Dirk and experience a part of our Country that is still largely unfounded.

Imagine you are cruising between islands, landing on stunning beaches, hiking remote locations, admiring the wildlife, dolphins, turtles, learning the history, the legends of the places and meeting incredibly nice people.
Dirk has given us the opportunity to witness all that, in the space of a few days. While feeling safe and having a good laugh all the way.

This was a fantastic way to explore the islands with a friendly and knowledgeable local guide. Highly recommend to anyone travelling to the Torres Strait region.

We spent many months planning a three day trip with Dirk for a special occasion. Getting to the Torres Strait and accomodation is expensive. Dirk cancelled the trip without confirming with us because we were stuck with little internet in cyclone Jasper. When I called to say the roads were open and we could come he said he had taken on other clients & could not take us & “that’s business”. What was outrageous is he then refused to refund the substantial deposit. We had to book with someone else at the last moment so as not to lose even more than we did. Extremely poor customer relations. Be careful with your payments
