I managed to hire an Aluminium road bike Merida 903 57cms (Large Frame) for $90 for the week which is great value. I got to see a lot of Port Stephens from the bike.

Needed to find a bike place where I could talk to someone about buying the right bike for me. This isn’t a 5min conversation if you consider the price of bikes and the huge variety of bike styles.

I was lucky enough to meet Frank, the owner. He took time (on a pretty busy day to be honest) to talk me through a lot of things. He ended up offering me a really good deal on a very good new bike so I bought it. He also offered a 24 month warranty, and discounts on my wife’s and daughter’s bike services.

Highly recommend them for any bike needs, be it hire or service or purchase.

I hired 4 bikes for the hour to ride down to Fingal Bay. What a great way to burn an hour or so that it took. I thought it was great value to entertain us for less than $80 for the hour. Bikes were in good condition and easy to ride. Great instructions on how to and not too ride the bike. Came back to the shop and he was very obliging on answering a few questions about bikes. I will definitely be back.

Always getting bikes from here when we visit Port Stephens. They have a wide range of mountain and e-bikes, have enough stock to even cater for the busiest of times, Frank is very informative and shared lots of details on bike paths around the area. Will always come back to this place for bike hire!

We have come here every time we visit the area - wonderful and friendly customer service and a great way to see the area! This time we looked to get a child seat to attach to a bike we already had and the owner even tried to fit it for us. It didn’t work out but we appreciated all the information he had. Hired a bike with a seat so our 3yo could keep up with us and again the owner was so helpful with advice and information. Would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting - great to see someone who enjoys what they do, knows a lot about the area and wants to make sure each customer has an enjoyable experience on their bikes. Popped in for a riser for my handlebars, Frank fitted one immediately and then also lubed up my chain. Very friendly and professional service. My wife and I will be back to get full services for both our bikes.

We visited in July 2015 and hired bikes from Shoal Bay Bike Hire. The bikes were comfortable - the seats especially so therefore we stayed out longer than we booked! Frank who runs the shop is excellent in relation to knowledge and service and goes the extra 'mile' to help us! I am contacting him from Sydney to order parts for my bikes at home as his prices are very reasonable and his service exceptional! Thank you Frank!

Frank is so helpful and a great guide to all the bike trails on the area

We hired a few bikes in Dec 2016. Very friendly and helpful service. The owner (I think he is) was very kind and patient in explaining everything from different types of bikes suitable for our family to the available bike trails. Exceptionally great prices too. Highly recommended!!

Huge thanks to Frank who not only rented us the best bikes for our needs but also showed his expertise & care in giving some safety tips and advising on the local bike routes. On top of that, he's a very kind person and we wouldn't hesitate in visiting his shop again once we're back to Shoal Bay!

My wife and I hired two bikes with child seats for our 3 year old twins and they loved it. He provided maps and great local knowledge of simple rides we could take the kids on.

We hired 6 electric bikes and after being given clear directions by the owner, made our way to Fingal Bay and Barry Park Lookout before heading back to Shoal Bay and making our way along the foreshore to Tomaree Head. The electric bikes made the ride so much easier, especially up some of the hilly parts. Highly recommend this place.

Highly recommend this as an essential activity to do when staying at Nelson Bay or Shoal Bay or the surrounding areas as there is many cycle way tracks alongside the main roads and also in bush and national park areas. The owner of this store is a very friendly gentlemen, it had been raining after I earlier had called to ask if there was bikes for hire and by the time I got to his store it was closed due to wet weather however when I rang his contact number he was more then happy to go out of his way to open the store for me as he was close by and let me hire a bike. The service he provides is exceptional and after reading Tim McPherson's bad review on here I don't believe him at all and would recommend anyone not to take it seriously he has gone out of his way to smear this business owners name for whatever twisted reason.

This is a must-do with Shoal Bay Bike Hire at the centre of many incredibly scenic bike trails. Frank will get you set up and clearly explain the paths. We hired electric bikes which will get you round all the trails in a couple of hours.

A must-do at The Bay, there are lots of bike tracks between all the major town centres, all of them really easy to ride. Very enjoyable, and with this rental shop that's been here for several decades, it's all here waiting for you. There's even tandem bikes!
