The Midge - Tallong

Awesome local cafe and general store. Friendly staff and they use as much local produce as they can in their cafe. Homemade sauces and lemonade. I had the toasted rye bread with avocado, tomato, red onion and added spinach as well and a soy latte and it was all delicious.
They have an old fashioned sweet counter, as well as home made biscuits and cake.
Right near the train station, with a carpark and under 10 mins from the Hume, we’ll definitely be back next road trip!

Absolutely lovely stop off on our road trip. Service was lovely, food was AMAZING! The burger was absolutely delicious - you can tell it was home made. The corn fritters and lemonade were absolutely amazing as well!

What a pleasant surprise to find such an oasis on our bike ride around Australia 🇦🇺.
Not far off the freeway, plenty of parking.
Not to mention the great coffees and home made pies.

What a lovely little General Store and breakfast stop. Locally made items for sale. We had the traditional and vegan breakfasts. Coffee was awesome too.

I took a client in a wheelchair with me here and they were so lovely and accommodating. moved furniture so we could get through easy and we're very friendly. Highly recommended

What a lovely stop for Friday night pizza (only Fridays) - we had the pulled pork, apple with jalapeño. Yum! A great place to chill off the freeway.

What a great find this was. Each month a friend and I try out a new place in the Southern Highlands. This time we drove out to Tallong and had lunch at The Midge. Great food and great experience on a sunny day out on the terrace.

Friendly staff. Had a very good hamburger with the lot.

After drive to Long Point Lookpout I dropped by at this cafe for coffee.
Had some homemade cookies at the casher as well. They were good companies to enjoy breeze and birds chirping at the close park with big apple.

The cookies reminded me of genji-pie you'd agree if you are japanese..

fabulous.. well worth a detour . great food. lovely smiley staff . home baked cakes . local craft and preserves. clean great to sit on deck and meet the locals .. support the communities devastated by fire. ps coffee was great too .

Gorgeous little country cafe, lots of knick knacks to look through as well. Owner was lovely and happy to chat, food was very generous.

After reading all the reviews before I came in I had really high expectations. Even starting from that point I was so impressed at how warm and lovely this place is. The big breakfast was delicious, and perfect on a cold morning

Great coffee and lovely person who assisted me with the WiFi previously.
My daughter and I had lunch at the Midge and purchased some delicious caramel slice.

Don’t drive past. Great food which is all made in-house by an expert. If you have the chance you will become a regular, like many others.

Charming, constantly improving and excellent customer service.

Never had a soup I didn't like, and the burgers and Caesar salad, although not in the American style, are all delicious.

The shop also stocks homemade goodies, essential groceries and local produce.

The most delicious chicken schnitzel and salad wrap! Homemade and very fresh. Not a fancy place, but super delicious and friendly service!

It was great to get off the Hume Hwy on my bike ride, and this store was the first non-fast-food place we came across. The burger was great and the staff were very friendly.
