Top Block Wines

I have always enjoyed my visits to the Pickers Hut and Top Block Wines. Most recently the 2016 Long Lunch was great. Every course was a gourmet foray across the Riverland and down the Murray, where the freshest and best regional ingredients were sourced for every course, of which there were many and varied. My only regret was that this scrumptious sojourn had to end at all.

The accommodation at The Pickers Hut is a period rendered brick house that has been renovated inside to be comfortable and modern. From the front veranda, once you get past the shade trees, hammock and wood fired oven, you’ll realise that you’re on a subtle but significant hill, sounded by vineyards in all directions. It’s secluded, spacious, serene and beautiful. The owner Bruce is always helpful as he is friendly.

We where lucky enough to stay in The Pickers Hut for 2 nights, Great facilities and we finally got to use a wood fired pizza oven. The washing machine in the pickers hut was well used too as we where re-setting after a windy week in the camper. Plenty of room for parking and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A very lovely experance. Extremely welcoming and engaging customer service. Only a small selection of wine but unique and destictive taste that separates it from other wines in the Riverland. Would recommend the Rose and Pinot Grigio.

Happened to be in the area and as we drove by we called the number on the sign. Bruce was so nice to have a chat too, he was more than happy to open up his cellar door. A small, unique winery and very welcoming. The wine was good. This is another must do visit.

We have been here twice now, and just love it. The Picker's Hut is the perfect location to explore nearby towns and sites in the Riverland. We go Kayaking, swimming, hiking and fishing and then come back to a great setting and cook our dinner in the wood oven whilst enjoying a glass of Top Block. Bruce, Leah and their 2 daughters are delightful. You could not meet a nicer family. They will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and fun!

Excellent place, with a fabulous host, Bruce. Located on a small vineyard with plenty of opportunities to try their wines which are delicious! Small place, but has two bedrooms, one a queen then the other has two bunks with a baby change too. Basic kitchen, and a good hot shower, but we did run out of hot water (did all have long showers, so should be fine if you're careful with the water). Also dog friendly. ❤

the pizza had a hint of whiskey but we enjoyed it. Great place to stay with a great host Bruce who made sure all of our needs were taken care of (wink). 10/10 would go back.

Hi me and my mum and son and step dad. Stayed at the pickers hut. And i must say we had a amazing time. Great location between both berri and renmark. Bruce was extremely nice and looked after us. And we highly recommend staying here. We will be booking again next year 😁

Great place to stay, with a great host, Bruce. With all the kids running around it allowed me to continue my passion from a distance (can’t talk about it due to the NDA). The cheese was a little Jewish for my liking. Cant wait for my stay next year. Aunty Leslie Wrinkles.

Picked grapes 🍇 at Top Block Wines for this year's vintage of Bubbly Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. All good fun with Barramundi for lunch.

Thanks for a fantastic stay. The accommodation was perfect for us, set off the beaten track but still within arms reach of everything we wanted to see. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.

A quiet place in the country. Big TV. Pizza Oven & BBQ & kitchen.

I've never been here but it looks nice enough

The photos all look nice, the setting is excellent and the place is well equipped. However, it's badly let down by lack of cleanliness (bad smell, dirty carpets/bathroom) and is uncomfortable (bed and couch in particular). It doesn't need the latest and greatest, but what it has needs to be well kept and in line with the description and price, which it isn't in our view. It's so bad that we found another place to stay for the second night - we've stayed in many places and never done that before. There are far better places to stay in the Riverland for the same price or less.
Edited: Since posting this review I've been contacted by the property owners who were sincerely apologetic. They explained that they had some water problems that may have contributed, which I accept. They also advised that they would look into the issues raised and address them. That's good news and I wish them well - if Google would allow I'd increase this to 3 stars based upon their customer service and intentions.
