Cinema Nova holds a special place in my heart as my favorite cinema in Melbourne. It seamlessly weaves together a tapestry of cinematic experiences, featuring everything from little-known gems to indie masterpieces and blockbuster releases.

The cafe is a true gem, adding an extra layer of delight to the overall experience. What sets it apart is the dynamic decor that changes with the release of new and popular movies. It's not just a place to grab a bite; it's a visual celebration that resonates with the excitement of the film world.

Cinema Nova exudes an old-style charm that's hard to find elsewhere. The carefully selected films transport you to different worlds, while the cinema's ambiance embraces you with a nostalgic warmth. It's a perfect blend of classic and contemporary, offering a diverse range of films without compromising on the charm that makes the cinema-going experience special.

Whether you're a fan of intimate indie films or eagerly anticipating the latest blockbusters, Cinema Nova caters to every cinephile's taste. It's not just a cinema; it's a cinematic sanctuary that invites you to explore, enjoy, and appreciate the magic of storytelling in a setting that feels both timeless and contemporary. A cinematic haven in the heart of Melbourne!

Fan #1 of discount Mondays. the atmosphere, the service, everything is very nice, something I want to emphasize is the cleanliness of the bathrooms.

The $19 combo is super good !!!

Nova have hosted my Melbourne Science Fiction Film Festival for three years. The staff, facilities, programming and overall commitment to our small but determined-to-succeed event are all invaluable. It is the best specialist film venue in Melbourne, most likely Australia, too.

Always a favourite when I’m Melbourne. Cinemas may not be the largest, but very comfortable and great audio/visual. And a fantastic breadth of movies shown at any one time - blockbuster and Arthouse.

Such an excellent array of movies and cinemas , I love this place. Great little wine lounge to the side, Brunettis next door for coffee and cake. What's not to love, prices are decent, the choice of movies is always top notch.

Fantastic independent cinema, often has event nights and all sorts. Never over priced and an establishment that adds to the inner north charm. Love it to bits.

This was hands down the best cinema I have ever been, showing foreign films that NO OTHER CINEMA played, such as Godzilla Minus One, incredible movie, to the smaller more personal rooms, it’s a hidden gem of cinemas. One of the widest range of snacks to, with an extensive bar, many different exotic snacks that you can’t buy in stores! Like Tony’s Chocolonley, and that’s not accounting for the movies, extending movies runs by months, even a year for the best, and the constantly do specials, movie marathons IN CINEMAS. I plan on coming here very regularly.

Great little cinema.
I've visited twice to see The Room and had a wonderful experience both times.
The staff are lovely and helpful.
Clean toilets and reasonably priced snacks and drinks.

Caught a late afternoon showing and was very pleased with the experience. Ordering tickets and snacks was straightforward (bought from the same counter), and I even got to take my wine with me inside the theater - that was a first! Seats do not recline but are adequately comfortable.

This cinema values good movies and has very very reasonable prices and a great snack bar. Only issue is parking (avoid the underground parking it is often overloaded and has a very long wait time). This cinema is otherwise so accessible and welcoming that I have broken my rule of group sessions only and will go see movies solo. If you’re a wine lover ask for a feature pour and if not ask for a chilli choc top, if you like ice cream and wine then you’re in for a treat. Xoxo

best experiences at this cinema, been here many times and this is such a great cinema, the aesthetic of the cinema as well as the cheap tickets on Mondays and deals they have on other weekdays. Also had a great experience where I had previously booked but due to my family getting COVID couldn’t attend and got refunded and the messages back and forth were fast and respectful.

Lovely place, if you buy tickets here in person then you save 1.5 Aud :)
I can recommend this place whole-heartedly.
Authentic cinema experience. Big space between the lines of seats.
The lost city of Melbourne - was a really great movie. Very friendly staff.

Cinema Nova shows a fantastic selection of films, from blockbusters to ones fresh out of film festivals, in a clean theatre with friendly staff. Snack bar is a little pricy, but the free mini film posters and spacious waiting area before your film is fantastic! Hoyts and Village have nothing on Nova.

Don't go to Cinema Nova expecting recliner chairs and modern cinema facilities. It's a unique arthouse cinema showing commercial movies as well as independent and local films/docos.

Customer service was friendly and on point. I accidentally ordered popcorn at the bar but when I relocated, my exact order was there waiting for me.

Each cinema room appears to have a theme? Cinema 15 had bamboo and faily lights along the wall which was super cute.

Comfy chairs and mini tables to hold your craft beers, wine, spirits or cocktails (in a bottle too!).

Definitely was a pleasant movie experience. I mean, check out their mural in the bar!!! 😍🍿

One of the best cinemas in Melbourne and my go to for indie and arthouse films. Clean, comfortable and has that 90s indie film spirit permeating through the labyrinth of cinemas - each unique in their own way. Great staff and service too.

Super indie and cosy place. It's an independent theatre that does special deals on Mondays for super cheap tickets, they replay old movies and have short seasons of new movies. It makes the place feel like a community and it's so great

If you love old people and alternative artsy types of the inner north, then the Nova is for you.

Also $7 for a day session on a Monday! You can't get anything for $7 these days, not even a ride on the Finsbury trolley! Damn inflation!

Love this local cinema. They need to work out a way to decongest on busy nights. It can get a bit crazy!
