We had a wonderful stay at The Retreat.
The facilities were excellent and we particularly enjoyed the design aspects of The Retreat and how it suits that environment. It was hot outside, but remained cool and comfortable inside. The large windows beautifully frame the views of the Cathedral Range evoking my memories of hiking the ranges as a kid.
We chatted easily with our hosts Emma and Glenn on many subjects and were served a much appreciated cooked breakfast.
And we simply relaxed. Just what we needed.

A stunning display of modern design and architecture set against beautiful Mt Cathderal makes The Retreat a perfect place to unwind and relax. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bathtub with views over the valley is just unreal, and the entire living and kitchen area is a space you won’t want to leave. Bonus points for us was the trampoline in the backyard—our toddler absolutely loved it, and loved exploring the garden and pathways. We had a wonderful stay here, and can’t wait to bring our family back.

An amazing stay! Hidden between mountains just out of Marysville, ‘The Retreat’ is peaceful, scenic and grand. Sitting out at night on the outdoor lounges watching the sunset and watching the sunrise through the huge window in the bedroom were some of the highlights. The interior feels very spacious and is also furnished with premium quality furniture, appliances and tap-ware. Recommend to anyone looking to book a week or weekend away in country Victoria !!

The Retreat is perfectly situated on the top of a mountain with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding bushland. It is the perfect place to rest, enjoy the peace and quiet, take walks along bush tracks, sit by the open fire or soak in the huge bathtub. Marysville and Alexandra are towns close enough to explore and Buxton has an amazing massage therapist. This new home is tastefully decorated with everything you could need for a luxurious getaway. Definitely worth a visit!

Mt Cathedral Retreat is a stunning place with views of Cathedral Ranges right on your door step. Every detail in the house (including appliances etc) has been carefully chosen to make your stay feel really homely but luxurious at the same time. My husband and I sat by the fire almost every night with a glass of wine in hand looking out at Sugar Loaf and watching the wildlife. The home caters for families with young children with toys and lego available for them to play with. It's also a sanctuary for reading a nice book by the fire or in that amazing bath tub with scented candles all around! I would definitely recommend staying here to my friends & family and have already booked another stay in the near future.

The Retreat is set amongst the Cathedral Ranges with almost 360 degree views of the mountains from inside and out. The accommodation itself is brand new and has been fitted out to a very high quality. Even with a group of 10 people we felt we had our own spaces (including ensuite to each of the five bedrooms), and were able to comfortably relax around the property for 3 days. The host is very responsive and makes sure to ensure a smooth stay.

Some friends and I stayed here together and I couldn’t have asked for a better accomodation. Firstly, the view of the location is absolutely breath-taking and, to enhance this sight, the retreat is built perfectly with windows surrounding the building, allowing you to take maximum advantage of the serenity of the beautiful mountains. The retreat itself is almost just as stunning inside and out. It’s modern architecture was calming and inviting and the clever layout enabled us to spend quality time together but also provided us with the privacy to each spend some time to ourselves. Overall, this accomodation along with its surroundings was the perfect place to unwind and recharge alongside friends who which I am now closer than ever. Amazing place to stay.

5/5 I had the opportunity to stay at The Retreat with my friends and I am truly speechless. The 360 perspective of the mountains gives you a view in every room within The Retreat. The interior is not only aesthetic but a stunning place to relax in. The various walks around The Retreat and roasting marshmallows on the fire was truly amazing, making them the highlight of my trip. The Retreat is owned by many friendly faces, anyone that stays here will receive the best service there is!

This place is stunning inside and out. The windows frame an incredible picture no matter what the time of day as you feel comfortable and cozy in the depth of classic Australian landscape. It feels like an eagle's nest with its unique perspective showing the length of the Cathedral Ranges in the East and a private vista from each room on the Western face. Nic and Kerilee create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere from a fireside evening chat to a delicious breakfast in the morning. We'll be coming back!

Located in a beautiful part of Victoria, The Retreat is a joy from the moment you park the car and walk to the front door taking in glorious mountain range vistas to your left and right. Once inside the place feels both cosy and spacious at the same time. It's comfortable. It's tranquil. It's well worth a visit.

My 86 year old mum and I enjoyed a perfect week at the retreat. The view was simply breathtaking and the house is designed so that the mountains and gums are a feature of every room. What can I say about this peaceful and tranquil paradise in the Cathedral Mountains ... a little slice of heaven. I can't fault it.

Brilliant location and a beautifully designed and decorated building. Not catered, but well set up for a group booking.
The place is off-grid, so people with an engineering bent like myself can spend ages watching the battery levels and the power consumption change with the time of day.
The Retreat has a more serious purpose as well, providing space for people to put their lives back together after trauma.

Wow, stunning place! Had the pleasure of staying at The Retreat after a long day cycling and could not have had a more restorative resting place. The building is at one with nature, with every room and hallway offering an opportunity to feel connected to the surrounding environment. Alas, one night was not enough...have started dreaming of a return trip already.

The Retreat was an amazing nights stay. The high ceilings take advantage of the picturesque surroundings, and the decore is Australian bush themed with being super lux.
The shower was soothing after 6hrs in the saddle, and beds were super comfy. I fell asleep staring at the stars through my window, then woke to an amazing sunrise.
This place is the place to go for peace, tranquility and revitalisation.

I was looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful to work on my book and couldn't have chosen somewhere better that The Retreat. I stayed for 3 nights and the place is just gorgeous - Nic and Kirrily are the perfect hosts and I love that there is a social enterprise aspect to the business too. Also, that gorgeous bath is amazing!! I'll almost certainly be back as soon as I have an excuse.

A perfect place to get-away-from-it-all on our first trip after lockdown. Very well appointed, helpful host, and an ideal base for bushwalking or just sitting and staring out at the 360 degree views. We'll be back.

If you want to escape the craziness life, the retreat is very much the perfect escape. Located on top of a hill surrounded by nothing more than hills and birds (and the occasional wallaby), this modern retreat really allows you to be in another world. Beautiful

Fabulous, stunningly located (overlooking Sugarloaf) retreat for relaxation, dealing with grief and rejuvenation. And having fun too! Still being built at the moment but already kids have been invited for fun madder race. Really cool! There is flying fox, tree climbing, crawl under wire track and plenty of other fantastic obstacle race tracks.
