We did the walk Apriln2024. The weather was perfect and even though we started at 230pm, it was pretty comfortable. Once you do the 500 steep steps and get amongst the red rocks, it is unbelievable. You con cool off in the garden of Eden. Amazing beauty and well worth it. We did it in a leisurely pace and managed in 2.5 hours. The path is very clearly marked with blue arrows and there are defibrillators and helicopter pickups for the faint hearted.
Recommend fly nets as the flies can get real annoying.
We stayed at the King's canyon resort nearby and it made for a perfect evening after the hike.

Before going I would suggest bringing at least 2Ltrs of water, the national park rangers recommend 3Ltrs of water for this hike.

At the beginning of the hike you will be met with heart attack hill…. This might sound scary but at the age of 26 I did not find this to difficult.
I would recommend taking this part slow as this was the most difficult part of the hike.

Toilets are available for free at the starting point next to the car park.

I've been to some pretty awesome places in Australia. Without a doubt this is one of them. Amazing views at every turn. One must do this walk.

Great walk with some stunning views of the surrounding area. Steep 500 step climb to the top of the rim, but well worth it. We started in pitch dark early in the morning and arrived at the top in time to enjoy a beautiful sunrise.
Bring plenty of water and some snacks. Wear closed and comfortable footwear, bring a fly net and don't forget to use sunscreen.
If you plan to add a trip to the Garden of Eden, allow an extra 30 minutes.
The trip takes 3-4 hours and requires a certain level of fitness as the steps up are challenging.

Absolutely stunning views.
The first set of stairs is the worst part, but if you take your time, it's not too bad.
Recommend doing a guided tour as you will learn about the history and the formations of Kings Canyon.
Kirsten was our guide, she had great knowledge of the walk and told us some very interesting information along the way.
I highly recommend going down into the Garden of Eden, the area in there is totally unexpected compared to the rest of the canyon.

Wow! Kings Canyon is awesome. We chose to do the 6km loop which starts with 500 stairs and there's still plenty more up and down to do but the views are totally worth it!

There is an extra lookout and garden of Eden which are both 600m detours so all up, I tracked it as 7.5km for it.

The hotel/caravan park up the road is a great place to stay and has fuel and a great bar and bistro.

Went during the end of sept. Weather was warming up (prolly Jul-Aug be better).

Started the track at around 8 (recommend to start at 6-7am). Walk can get relatively tough after 10 due to the heat. Took us 5 hours as we made several detours and stopped around for photos.

Bring fly nets, suncreen and loads of water

Defo one of our highlights to NT.

We loved this hike so much we did it twice. The guided tour was our first trip and we learnt so much about the rock formations.

Then we made the 6km trek again to take our time and enjoy a sunset up here.

The first 500 steps is the hardest then it’s fun to enjoy the many view points.

An awesome walking trail goes through the many scenic spot , one after another one. The hardest part is the beginning of the trail as you need to walk up a very steep mountain.

You are a fool if you don't do the Rim Walk. There is a few stairs at the start to get to height but after that it's plain sailing. Sooo beautiful. I was lucky, when I did it, I didn't see a single other person. Blue markers are easy to follow and some of the views are spectacular. Keep an eye out for snakes 🐍

Make the time and check the conditions, this is a spectacular walk that should not be missed.

Very intense elevation game at the start but levels out soon after. As with other walks in Central Australia, during the hotter months it'll close if temps exceed 35c / by 11am, so get in early. During winter it was perfect, just take water and some snacks. No bathrooms on the walk, need to go at the carpark.

Panoramic views of the canyon but also great views of the surround landscape. If you start by going the south route (reverse) you will hit a one way door that won't let you go any further so go the Northern route!

The highlight of our NT trip! This was such a fun landscape to explore.

The steps at the start might look intimidating, but they're over quickly and then you're in a primarily flat rim with fantastic views. There's a small elevation change when you dip down to the Garden of Eden, but it's worth it.

I didn't have much time to do this walk so I ended up jogging a lot of it, finishing in 1hr 40 minutes. I would love to come here and spend more time.

This is a must walk in kings canyon. It takes about 3 hours 30 min for a normal walk with lots of stop for pictorial 😂 definitely recommend it. The start is a bit of a hike and difficult but once you've done it which is about 20 min all is smooth after that. Cotterrill's look out is a must see. Be careful thou if you are afraid of heights coz this place is steep and challenging but its worth the view. One of the photo i have here is cotterrill's bridge look out. Make sure to bring a snacks and lots of water. It is one way to enjoy the views.

The best walk in the area! Loved this one best out of Uluru Base Walk, Valley of the Winds and Walpa Gorge... This one shouldn't be missed, as the landscape is stunning!

Our sore knees love us for doing this. The rim walk is tough and the sun will make it much more difficult. We carried like 2 litters of water each and we drank all of it. The view from the top is breathtaking. The it gets very tricky to hike.

Early start (around 5:30am) on hot days is mandatory as the track will be closed at around 9am if the temperature is expected to reach 36°C. The climb is a bit difficult but not too bad (I'm not very fit and I still did it in less than 45 minutes), and once you're up there it's nice and easy for the rest of the walk. The scenery is absolutely spectacular! Don't miss the Garden of Eden for a nice snack break.

Absolutely gorgeous! Make sure to be there very early! Then you avoid the masses of hikers on the bus tours and you want to hike up the first steep part while it‘s still cool. This rim walk will be closed when it gets too hot, which is at about 9am. I started my walk at 7:15 and it took me about three hours. Make sure to go down to the water hole! The extra 800m are worth it!

Thouroughly enjoyed this walk. The stairs at the start are steep and certainly get the heart rate going, though there are some spectacular view of colourful sheer rock cliff faces and views as far as your eyes can see from the top.
