El Toucan South Central

Roll by on my way to catch the tram and couldn't resist going in. The entry is wheelchair accessible so that made.for a good start, there is plenty of room once inside to manuever as well as spa e between tables to sit a wheelchair without getting kicked or bumped everytime someone walks by. The menu has many great choices. I went with Arepa Paisa which was absolutely delicious. The staff are lovely and the service is great. The only downside is that the toilets are NOT wheelchair accessible. I definitely recommend giving this place a go, you won't be disappointed. Oh and the offer a discount if you pay with cash.

El Toucan is an excellent Colombian restaurant, perfect for bringing friends to savor authentic Colombian cuisine. The menu offers delicious and well-presented dishes, and the overall experience is enhanced by fantastic service and excellent food and drinks. I ordered the Bandera Paisa (obviously) and was impressed with the impeccable preparation of the dish, especially the perfectly cooked meat. Highly recommended for a delightful Colombian culinary experience!

Went yesterday with my boyfriend, we ordered 2 Bandejas Paisas, and it did not disappoint. We also had the entree of empanadas, that were different in flavour but still amazing. Can’t wait to go back.

Food and service were fantastic. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the cuisine and the meals were flavourful (and big). The atmosphere was a little lacking but the overall quality of food and service was exceptional. Recommended

My first time at a Colombian restaurant and service was excellent and I went with all their recommendations and the food was divine, highly recommend it. Moist cake & rice pudding was delicious 🤤

Great experience. Best Colombian food I have had so far. The only downside is that it is bit expensive compares to other latinoamerican restaurants.

Really great food, with generous portion sizes. Our waitress was very friendly & explained the menu thoroughly as it was our first time trying Colombian food. The food came out quickly & was delicious.

I purely rated this place based on food which was phenomenal. The service, whilst super friendly and helpful, they were clearly understaffed. One lady server, plus who knows how many people working in the kitchen (if also more than one).
Had a work lunch here, everyone's food was very good. Drinks were good too.
I had the crispy pork belly, the portion can feed 2 adults, so definitely value for money. The custard apple drink was good too, not as sweet as the South East Asian variety.
Our biggest problem since it is a work lunch, time. The entire lunch could only be concluded in 2 hours, on a normal weekday. Hopefully, they could add one or two more staff to make it more seamless. Do make sure you have a couple of hours to spare for this. Definitely will return, but maybe not for work lunches.

This place lives up to its highly rated reviews. Located on Victoria St, plenty of parking on the side streets. Also, not your typical Victoria St restaurant. Excellent customer service when you walk in. Nice ambience with widely spaced tables and super clean as well. We ordered the picada and the lengua en salsa. I would go as far to say best ex tongue I have eaten. So tender and coupled with the salsa just sublime! The picada is served in a huge plate. Mostly deep fried, still tasty! The 2 dishes we ordered were more than enough for the 2 of us. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Amazing Colombian food. Big servings, big taste, big service. Beef is slow cooked, tender and flavourful. Yuca chips are crispy, can almost be mistaken as fries. Tres Leche is moist and not too sweet. Really friendly staff too. Highly recommended.

We visited Melbourne for holidays and we went to this restaurant and we loved it!! The food was amazing, honestly the best one that we have tried here in Australia, the service divine, the owner is a great person and really nice!!! We really recommend this place if you want to try it actual Colombian cuisine 😊😊

They really nailed it.

This is the most authentic Colombian food I’ve had outside of Colombia itself. Every dish was spot on, with the ajiaco as the standout for me. This is the real deal.

The staff was so kind, helpful, and welcoming. We even got to chat with the owner about our travels in Colombia. He told us that they opened this location just before covid, so it must be rough for them right now.

Please support this place. We need more like it. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

As a Colombian, I must admit that this is a great restaurant. The frijoles, lentejas, ajiaco, and patacones are all excellent. However, the juices with milk were a bit too thick. The torta 3 leches was not amazing. Overall, I definitely recommend this place.

Lovely Colombian food. They have a different type of food. We would like to have a plate with frijoles and veggie options but it was delicious. Lovely starters which you can share to try new dishes, great for foodies. We loved patacones 💚 Main dishes come in big portions. Lentils with chicken was amazing.

The word amazing doesn’t do this place justice. It’s beyond that. Maybe super awesome amazing is a better description. The platter was massive, the meats juicy and tender. I always thought the Brazilians did good meat until I tried this place and had the Columbian experience.

Google needs to be able to do 6 stars.
