An excellent place to get your banh mi fix. It’s a bakery with all kinds of good goodies, including croissants, tarts, and different types of buns. But the star of the show is the sandwich. I went with the bbq pork and it was fantastic. The bread was a bit crunchier than I like, but that’s me being picky. It’s excellent and you need to try it. It was also 8 dollars, which was a good price. The staff was friendly and the service fast.

My favorite breakfast food-Banh Mi after night shift work served by Anan she’s the best! Always has the biggest smile on her face to greet and take your order. Highly recommend this bakery.🤗

Bánh Mì breakfast.

Having a really yummy BBQ Pork (cha siew) bánh mì from Nhu Lan Bakery in Footscray (Melbourne, Australia).

So popular, the queue starts at the entrance! 3 queues and three speedy ladies making the bánh mì so it’s quite a quick process.

Flavours are wonderful but, in my humble opinion, there is way too much meat. A modification to cater to western preferences I guess.

People eat huge portions here. 🤣

Their name is probably inspired from the famous Saigon bakery/restaurant of the same name (famous for its mooncakes and bánh mì). I must say they do this illustrious name justice.

Easily one of the best bahn mi in Melbourne. Tried the tofu bahn mi and bbq kebab bahn mi - both were full of flavours, good portion of tofu/meat, lovely fresh and crispy bread. It's obviously very popular as there is always a queue in front the store but it moves quite fast. Will took forward try all the other bahn mis there.

Having heard its reputation I came with high expectations and was not disappointed. Tried the classic cold cuts banh mi. I’ve come to understand the critical role the bread plays in the eating experience- these rolls don’t even need to be toasted first to embody crispy perfection. Having read another persons review I also tried a coconut bun (good, fragrant and fluffy) and a simple $3.50 pate and mayonnaise (with extra chili) mini tiger roll (great cheap snack). They also have mooncakes - had a mungbean and durian - very creamy custardy filling but way too sweet (aren’t they all?)

Travelled an hour just to get a Banh mi and it did not disappoint! So hard to find a 10/10 these days but these guys nailed it.
So yummy full of flavour they know what they are doing!
They also sell the ingredients to make your own banh mi so I'll be bringing an Esky next time lol
Definitely recommend 👌

Supposedly has the best banh mi in Melbourne… As a visitor I wouldn’t know… BUT I can say that their banh mi are pretty damn good, with a great selection of fillings. I got one roast pork, and one bbq pork to share.

The Banh Mi is famous in and amongst Melbourne foodies and there is usually a massive line just to get into the bakery so it's well worth a visit.
We got here on a rainy day in COVID lockdown so there were only 4 people a head of us. BBQ Pork Roll & Crackling Pork Roll were great and the baguette was exceptional. The rolls for Banh Mi were small but the price is cheaper too, of you're really hungry but 2. Overall my usual Banh Mi joint beats the overall quality (taste) and size (message me for details if interested) but this place was very, very good too especially the bread which I would definitely go back for. Staff are very kind and friendly as you would know from the lovely Asian community...

The iconic Melbourne bánh mì, always reliable. Often busy, and for good reason, but the service is always very fast. The rolls are perfect, tasty and fresh ingredients, the flavours all come together in such a beautiful roll.

One of the best Bahn Mi in Melbourne. Ive tried a lot of the menu and the bbq chicken is my favourite. Desserts are also good here, especially the tapioca cake and the coconut roll.

It is as good as they say. Everytime you come here, long lines, passing by the fronts of shops a couple doors down.

I don't know what it is, whether it's their particular kind of cha lua, or their pate or butter, but everything together is just... Perfect.

Looks don't do it justice. Try it out and you will see.

Had the grilled chicken and vietnam coffee. Really one of the best bahn mi, and i have been to vietnam twice. Meat was charred, veg was fresh, buns were fresh out of the oven. Queue system is a bit hectic and messy. But for $5.50 what do you expect, plus it adds to the vietnam-ish experience. Highly recommend!

Finally got to try the bahn mi (bbq chicken). I was not disappointed. The bread was fluffy and the sauce was full of flavour.

Great banh mi from this local bakery. A range of fillings from chicken, tofu, ham, BBQ pork, crackling roast pork, and shredded pork. The heart of a good banh mi is all about the bread - and this places makes the best in town. There's the option to buy and take fresh bread home (tiger rolls, baguettes etc) if you're after something soft and fluffy in the inside and nice crisp on the outside. Depending on the time of the day you may have to wait in line - which can be up to 30 mins during peak periods. They even have dessert sorted with mungbean cake, durian and other sweets that you can indulge in.

Grabbing Banh Mi at Nhu Lan after copping some Cannolis from T Cavallaro next door is a validated one-two combo in Footscray. You just can't go wrong with that.

You know it's real when you see a queue of Asians waiting outside to grab a banh mi DURING COVID. They are literally risking their lives just to have some sandwiches. Mad respect. Glad to see some like-minded people who got their priorities straight.

Oh and their run-down menu. Just pure alpha, asserting its dominance. Got nothing else on it but Banh Mi. "This is what we have. If you don't like it, screw off" type of confidence. I like that - No frills, No BS, No distractions. Just keeping it classic. For $5.5 Banh Mi, you really shouldn't expect service. Low key I enjoyed the indifferent dispassionate attitude of the ladies working there because you know they've been working all day pumping out these delicious bad boys.

I ended up grabbing their BBQ Pork Rolls because that just looked most authentic. Now, I am not Vietnamese and haven't had enough Banh Mis to tell you what's good or bad but here are some notable pointers. (1) Bread was crunchy but also fluffy inside. Banh Mis I had elsewhere always scraped against my palate but not this one. (2) Their BBQ Pork tasted very different in a good way. Maybe it was slightly cured? I don't know but I am assuming that's how the authentic BBQ Pork roll's supposed to taste like. Definitely wish I grabbed more than one as I devoured it as soon as I got inside the car. You know I'll be back soon enough.

What is better than a fresh, crunchy baguette with a heap of tasteful ingredients ranging from savoury to spicy to tangy. This place was one of my go tos for many years while living in Melbourne, and you really can’t find a better Banh Mi in Melbourne - test me! ;)

Really nice rolls
A little bit hyped up, definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.. Wouldn’t travel across the city for it though..
Delicious salad, nice meats, crispy and fresh bun.. Big line but really fast and nice service ..

Smaller serves than most but also cheaper than most rolls so it’s quite fair … Get two if you’re hungry :)

Amazing Bahn Mi flavours with an impressive range. Personally loved number 1 and the meatball option but with the way the bread is, I’m sure any of them would be a delight.

Make sure to add chilli to your sandwich for a bit of a kick and grab their coconut milk dessert on the way out, only $3.50!
