Great place to catch your breath and cool down on a hot Melbourne day. Have a look at Castle Howard’s temple of the four winds, a Vanbrugh folly. Then a drink and scones by the lake, bliss.

This old shrine is a dedication to the past directors of the botanical gardens. Once inside it has a lovely view through the trees of the yarra and surrounding area. Its not that large or grand but does add some noticiable history to the area. Recent renovations so it is all clean and in good nick.

Nice spot for a view, but not much by way of benches or seating. Not dog friendly either😕 bit of a shame.

But lovely view of the MCG, rod laver and ammi stadium. Good views of the Yarra river too!

Undergoing renovations this month to repair cracks in the base. Splendid position overlooking the Yarra & beyond from the NW entrance to the Botanical Gardens.
