The staff were really helpful knew their menu and seemed to enjoy their jobs.
Menu was fun with classic staples and fun themed meals. Probably one of the best eggs benes I have had in a long time and the Bananarama was so yummy.

We needed somewhere for a quick breakfast in the city. I love the State Library and this right there. It was about nine and we got a seat straight away. The staff had our coffee order within minutes. Super friendly atmosphere. A mix of friends catching up, colleagues conspiring and workers finishing presentations on laptops.
We both had poached eggs on toast. A big slice of toast. The eggs done spot on. The coffee was good.
Highly recommend as a quick stop in your day.

Absolutely one of my favorite cafes.... Best place in the heart of the city to sit outside enjoying the sunshine and to do a bit of people watching.
Love the variety of food thats on offer and I love the new addition of the cupcakes which are super tasty... Well done to all the staff.

Finally - found a Cafe in an iconic location (in the current economic inflation with shortage of hospitality staff) which serves good food with a smile without the massive Sun weekend surcharge & with ample servings at a reasonable price! Enjoyed your "Great Eggspectations"...Loved the quirky menu item names that befitted being part of the magnificent State Library of Vic. Been a while between visits. The food is still terrific. The Winner Winner Chicken Schnitzel with a smear of Dijon mustard and Italian slaw hit the spot. Delicious. 10/10
Michael's attentiveness (he's the owner) never fails to impress. He even made way through a bunch of noisy teenagers for me, so that I could hobble up the steps to get into the café. That's service! 20/10!

Have wanted to go here for a while, and sit outside, and can very highly recommend a visit.
Staff were very friendly, and though busy, were efficient, and nothing was to much trouble.
The food was plentiful and delicious, ordered the Baked Beans as extra, would love the recipe!
Will absolutely be returning for another coffee, and a seat outside-can’t recommend highly enough.

Good atmosphere and vibe inside and outside. Friendly service, good breakfast and lunch menu. Had a snickers bar as a smoothie and the meatball as lunch. Very satisfying.

Wonderful service, good coffee and delicious food. There really isn't anything to complain about this place. It's connected to the state library, so it's totally accessible from Melbourne Central, and is just a short walk away from QV and the tram stops.
They do the usual brunch stuff, sandwiches, pastas, cakes, pasties and other cafe standard fare.
I would totally recommend this place if you just want a place to sit around until your next movie, or just a place to meet up with mates for how spacious it is. Al fresco is available too for those rare beautiful days we get here in Melbourne <3

Great service, lovely venue, broad and flexible menu. Had a tuna salad (delicious), fried eggs and chips (nice and crunchy). Would highly recommend and will definitely come again. Also great coffee

I had Dirty Chai with Soy milk, so good. The atmosphere was so cozy and warm cz I went to this cafe on a sunny day, staffs were nice as well

Thank God for Michael! He was a lifesaver allowing us to have Mr Tulk as a wet weather back up venue for our wedding. Fortunately the weather was beautiful so we didn’t need to use the space. However Michael was also generous to stay open for our guests between ceremony and reception and allowed us to take beautiful photos in the space after hours. We’re so grateful for your kindness. Mr Tulk will always be a special place for us!
