The Folly Ballandean

We had an amazing stay at this bush camp with our kids and pets. The campsite is spacious and the river is perfect for fishing and exploring. There are lots of animals to see with the kids and the night sky is breathtaking. We highly recommend visiting and staying here. We will definitely be coming back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break at The Folly. Such beautiful country, from the rugged mountains to the peaceful beauty of the river. Great Bush Camping site, so quiet and relaxing. Definitely be back again.

We had 2 nights here over the Labour Day long weekend. Peaceful, quiet surroundings a beautiful creek . The campsites were well planned and the beautiful scenery was amazing. Close to Stanthorpe and Giraween national park meant plenty of activities within a short drive then back to our beautiful campsite for a quiet drink by the campfire at the end of the day. This place was a great base for our weekend it ticked all the boxes. Truly a credit to the owners 👍

Excellent camp sites, which are well spaced out. Plenty of fire wood around to collect. Central to Stanthorpe-Tenterfield area, and National parks.

We had 4 nights in our slide on camper. Really great family owned and run caravan sites. Private and each with an open fire pit. We were with another couple and both groups will be going back. The truffle tour and tasting was fun and interesting as well. Lovely friendly people.

What a great experience. We knew we were going to have a great morning when we were met with the warm country welcome by Maple at the farm gate. We then met Ben with his very chilled truffle dog Barry. The Truffle tour was very informative but also so relaxed … it was as though we had come for a family visit. No you can’t keep the truffles found on the tour but you will get to enjoy the taste of truffles with the refreshments served after the tour. Highly recommend this tour

Stayed in the super rustic Ironbark cottage weekend just gone and did 2 fishing trips guided by Ben (one super friendly and very knowledgeable dude). The cottage is perfect for a back to basics getaway or as a fishing cabin and is a short drive to 3 or 4 of Australia s finest wineries. As a fishing guide Ben is top shelf. He took us to 4 holes in the Severn river on his property. My brother and I hooked up on some seruous fish both days (& the ride there & back across rough terrain in Ben's 4wd super charged golf buggy was an adventure in itself. This was my 2nd stay. Ben & Maple are wonderful hosts.
Will definitely be back, hopefully yearly from now on.

What an experience! I had my family go to the truffle tour and it lived up to all expectations. These guys are great. Heaps of knowledge, friendly and the food was amazing. This is highly recommended. The perfect day. Thanks so much.

Our second stay at The Folley was just as wonderful as our first stay a few years ago. Ben & Maple are lovely hosts, warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The setting of The Folley is ideallic. Nestled on the Severn river, the scenery of the surrounding country & mountain ranges is magic. The farm animals (particularly the donkeys), very friendly little dog and fishing were some of the many highlights. In close proximity to wineries & Stanthorpe, it was easy to explore the region and purchase some local produce to enjoy. The cabins are rustic and simple yet warm and cosy with many of the creature comforts of home (we’ve stayed in both pepperina and ironbark). Each day started with a beautiful sunrise and birdsong and ended with a wine by the fire, I gazing at the blanket of stars above. A welcome break away from the hustle and bustle of the city - highly recommended! Thank you Ben & Maple! Adrian & Andrea

My wife and I stayed at The Folly for 1 night. We wish we could have been there longer. Maple was a fantastic host. The setting was idyllic and waking up to the farm animals and Lupe the dog giving us his morning greeting was great. We would definitely recommend this place to stay. I'm about to book again for next year.

We loved our weekend at The Folly, the wildlife and bubbling river below the cabin created a very tranquil setting. We explored the 4WD tracks and dabbled in some fishing at the waterholes. Hosts were lovely and very accommodating, the cabin was comfortable and warm with the wood fired stove. Would definitely recommend!!

If you want a nice farm stay style place to enjoy the bush, rivers, mountains, walking, peace and quiet and beautiful dark nights.
This is the place!
The property owners are fantastic people and the size of the property is remarkable for exploring! Kangaroos by the dozens, Echidnas, Goanna's and more in their natural habitat.
I forgot how busy the night sky was. The little place we stayed at can easily sleep 6 and just as comfortable for two to enjoy.

Stayed over the long weekend recently and wish we never had to leave. It is such a beautiful place and so peaceful. So many great memories and will definitely be back as soon as possible

Amazing stay, we loved the perceived “isolation” whilst still being so close to the luxuries of the Granite Belt- Hubby had a ball exploring the property while I met (and fed) the animals and read by the fire.
Hope to return someday soon.

Had the best time, beautiful property- good for exploring. nice house people, and we went in winter so it was freezing! but the fire makes it all okay and the beds have super warm sheets/blankets on them. would highly recommend!

We loved our stay at the Folly, it's a perfect location - close enough to Stanthorpe and the surrounds while still being country. Maple and Ben are awesome and the place is exactly what we were after. We'll be back!

The Folly retreat was one of the best holidays my family has ever had. We loved hosts and the location. Simple accommodations to get away from it all.

Cracking little weekend get away. Beautiful little rustic cottage, simple and not over the top. The fresh air and quietness was an amazing retreat from the city. Easy to get to and find. Great base location to go off and visit all the wineries in the surrounding area. The owners were warm and welcoming. We had a great time feeding all the farm animals, our little boy Andrew had a wonderful time playing with all the animals, especially the donkeys!
