A wonderful bit of history.
The railway line is gone, so the tunnel is now home to a colony of tiny Bentwing Bats. One flew straight into my back while I was walking through. Maybe that is why they have bent wings? Or maybe they are just blind as a bat?

A remarkable tunnel dug with no supports and in a year. I walked through the tunnel, you can hear the bats (sounds like water in the background) and the bats have a distinctive odour (bit stinky). The ground is even but have a torch or the light on your phone. If you like this kind of thing then definitely visit. There is a sign with the history and some press buttons, but they were not working.

A great experience

This is an old tunnel with an active colony of bent wing bats. Please expect it to be dirty, dark, wet, smelly and messy.

Definitely worth walking through, go quietly without a light if you can (we were patient and let our eyes adjust) and the bats fly around you and you can hear their calls. More bats at the western end.

A short drive from the main road.

Amazing engineering feat to think this was all done with hard physical labour rather than machinery of today to get trains through the hill rather than over. There are no more trains but it is well worth the walk through rather than driving to get a good honest experience of the whole feat. Bats can be heard but remain still unless disturbed by a large vehicle. Would recommend the trip. Free and pedestrians have right of way. Reccomend this attraction

Great too see. Built in 1883 - 1884 the longest unsupported railway tunnel, 192 metres in length.
You can drive through or walk through.
Lovely country drive.

An interesting piece of history not to far from Gin Gin. Very easy to access from the main road. You can walk or drive through. There's an interactive information board with many interesting facts and a small table and chairs not to far from the tunnel. There are no toilets or bins here.

Exceptional experience

192 metres long but worth the drive off the side road.

Cool place to visit, absaloutly loved seeing the micro bats and a byo picnic, amazing piece of history to have the privilege of walking through for free with the family

Note : if heading here after rain the tunnel is slippery and a fair bit stinky but still worth the drive out

A beautiful tunnel, easy to access, you can ride a bike, walk or drive a small car carefully through. Please take care not to scare the bats or litter. There are no toilets so go before you go

The history of this place is fantastic. There is a very large bat colony which are easy to see able to walk right under them . Very pretty. And can drive through the tunnel

In addition to driving through the old train tunnel, it's really worth doing a walk through too. It allows you to feel the cool underground temperature, and see the little bent-wing bats clinging to the tunnel walls and ceiling.

Amazing, but we chose to drive because too many bent-wing bats, but certainly worth the trip . Built in 1883 it was a mammoth task
