The Nundle Woollen Mill is a must visit. It is the only working woollen Mill in Australia. The tour takes you through the process from the raw wool through to coloured balls of yarn on the shelf. Nick the owner also talked about the history of the machines used. Very informative and interesting. The lady on the front counter was very welcoming and friendly. There was such a good variety of woollen products for sale.

This family owned business is a treat to experience. We intended a visit five years ago but with bushfires raging down the coast we were forced to move on. Fast forward to 2024 , the visit did not disappoint. Our host Nick gave us a friendly and informative run-down of wool production from source to shelf. Everything was explained at a level everyone could appreciate. This is a hardworking, thoughtful, lovely couple and team who are doing their best to preserve the only accessible woollen mill in Australia, using totally Australian resources. Keep up the good work, guys! I’ll enjoy spinning your Tassie wool!

A great tour of the Nundle Woollen Mills. The tour was informative and captivating and we had a great tour guide. (Was the owner I think).

He walked us through the entire process of creating the product starting from the raw wool and taking us all the way through to the finished goods. Much of the process is carried out by vintage machines. It was fascinating to see how these machines have been preserved and maintained to create high quality wool products.
Great admission price & lovely products able to be purchased
I would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone thinking of visiting the area. (And the staff are lovely).

Great tour about wool from the sheep's back to the little ball of wool on the shelf. Wonderful experience to see the over one hundred year old machines working to create their wool. End product is beautiful and so many colours to choose from. Buy Australian!

Great tour, interesting history, very friendly and well-informed staff. Very cheap entry cost which you can get back at the end with a small purchase. Well worth visiting, even for non-knitters/sewers

Had a fabulous tour of Nundle Woollen Mill. Our guide Isobel (who runs the machines) was extremely knowledgeable and with her beautiful Scottish voice explained the process from start to finish. It is the only woollen mill that takes the process from the cleaned, scoured wool they receive from the washing plant in Victoria and then cards it, turns it into thread/yarn then dyes and finishes into balls of wool.
Of course, we bought some of their goods…gloves, socks and balls of wool to knit or crochet.

What a brilliant find ! Thanks to the information team at Tamworth, we ventured to Nundle to have a look around, and to visit this authentic woollen mill. Nick was our guide on the 2:00pm tour ($5, or free if you buy something in their extensive and wonderful shop). He was superb - engaging, entertaining, educational. Sandra demonstrated each stage of processing by operating several of the machinery on site. I ended up buying six balls of the most gorgeous, rich blue wool that Sandra had just wound into balls, a pair of needles and a Paton’s How To Knit book ! We loved our visit to Nundle and to the woollen mill, and highly recommend the trip. Thanks Nick and Sandra !

Great story to place with wool washed and spun from machines dating back to 1914 still in operation. Retail shop with amazing array of Aussie and NZ wool and related products. Recommended especially the socks Nundle mill make. Tours run at 2pm for $5 each or free if you purchase products from the store.

I've been to the mill a few times and have ordered online too. I have to say the service in person is wonderful. The service online is even better! I received my second parcel today and it's wonderful to receive a personal, hand written note along with it.
As for the quality of the wool... it really is beautiful. It's soft and easy to work with and the colour range is excellent! Keep up the good work!
