This is a great place to stop in while exploring the road less travelled in northern NSW.

We stopped in for a shot of Moonshine and a sweet treat on a cool autumn day and it really hit the spot.

We also picked up a bag of their special roasted beans to take and grind at home.

Really good coffee and the apple cake and passionfruit cookie were delicious. And we didn't have to wait in a queue

Brilliant coffee made in a small warehouse space on the Main Street of Federal. Friendly, local, chilled, high quality, a perfect Byron Bay hinterlands business. Small selection of tasty cakes and slices are also available plus a outdoor seating area.

Really cute and the coffee was fab. Highly recommend the salami toastie!! I ate it both days I was there and would gladly drive all the way from Brisbane each day to eat it again

Beautifully simple - all about the coffee. The Nitro cold drip is excellent - as is the courtyard space. Bring your keep cup!! A small selection of products and goods on sale.

Loved the vibe of the place and the coffee was amazing. I had a long black, which was so well balanced (fruity but not acidic) and bought a pack of beans for filter coffee (currently my favourite and I ordered more!)

We drove from Byron to have a coffee because it's apparently amazing, but they'd just switched off the machine. So got a kilo of beans instead. They'd been roasted the day before. Been carrying them around in my bag for the last five days. The aroma has been taunting me. Finally at home sipping coffee and it's really great. So much flavour and depth that you don't get with supermarket beans, even the organic ones.

Was desperate to restock on cold brew concentrate while travelling through Byron...found this little hidden gem on in the Hinterlands and was really surprised! Amazing coffee and cakes run by a local family.

The coffee here is very delicious. I think it has a great flavour balance and always makes me feel soothed (like when your yoga teacher tells you to "let out a sigh").

Moonshine, Federal - the drive up from Byron Bay is like going through a portal into another even greener world of peace and tranquility and, at the end of that road, is the best little coffee house in what must be one of Australia’s smallest country towns. Moonshine - just a shed with a specialty roaster and a lot of soul (and delicious sweet treats). And if you wait until it gets dark, you will see the starriest sky I have ever known with lots of shooting stars. What’s else could you possibly want in life?

Service was very friendly, coffee roasted on site, cash only but well worth it.
Not a lot of seating available, and food is limited to snacks and sweets from the cabinet, but the coffee is outstanding
