I go to Byron often and Retrospect a few times now. Some of the artists who exhibit there are great, but the experience has always been underwhelming.

My most recent visit (October. 2012) saw the usual chaotic hanging, with the best work hidden behind the front door. It's more of a shop with interesting stuff than a serious gallery, I think.

The worst thing - and this has been the case on every single visit - is the lack of service or engagement of any kind with whoever is working there. Last visit saw the 20-something blonde behind the counter doing her nails and totally ignoring me and others who had wandered in.

Had enough! There are other good galleries in the area, outside of Byron. Actually there are one or two truly great ones. Get in a car and head west if you love art and finding out about the artist/s who make it. You won't get any satisfaction from Retrospect.

Completely hopeless gallery. This business is almost uncontactable and incredibly unreliable. It took me a month to make contact with them to see how much money had been gifted to my wedding registry, and then another few weeks to get an accurate log of the sum of money that had been given. They also don't operate out of the location listed, they are in Spain where our consumer laws don't apply. Steer clear of this business.

Bree Delian is disorganised, unreliable, and deceiptful. My husband and I arranged a wedding registry with Retrospect to which our guests contributed over $7000. We elected to buy a beautiful painting by Nicole Tijoux. However, Bree did not inform us that her relationship with the artist had been compromised (contract terminated) and she used us as a bartering tool to recover unrelated funds instead of paying the artist with the money supplied. Bree took the money with no intention of sending us the painting that we paid for. We are still making persistent contact, which she ignores as she has done throughout the whole process. Dealing with Retrospect has been an incredibly stressful experience and I would highly advise avoiding them at all costs.

They overtly prioritises its own interests over any ongoing relationship with customers. Also does not operate out of the location they claim to and completely ignores calls and emails half the time, so they’re almost impossible to contact. Didn’t provide the service they claimed - definitely wouldn’t recommend trusting them with your money.

I purchased a piece from this gallery three months ago and have still not received it. They either do not respond to my messages, or have mearly said that it is in process without any indications of when I will receive the piece I purchased.
