McKellar Ridge Wines

Their wine was exceptional, the owners were super friendly and knowledgeable about their wines which made it more interesting whilst tasting. Cheese board was simple yet flavourful, complementing the wines very well. Of course had to walk with couple of bottles! (But did not feel pressured at all, but personally recommend their riesling and pinot noir!!) $5 for tasting and $10 for cheese board per person. Dog friendly, they were so accommodating.

Hosts were very friendly and made you feel welcomed.
We tried almost all of their wines and purchased a few whites and reds.
Their wines are full of body, depth, and beautiful colour which were great to drink.
We even bought one that couldn't be tasted as they don't have many left of them based on the tasting at their other reds.
Unpretentious, very friendly, and they don't make you feel like you have to purchase, but then why wouldn't you when they are so good.
Parking is very easy.

This is a family run small boutique winery. Brian and his wife Janet were absolutely lovely and extremely informative about the local wines and produce. We would highly recommend this business.

A must visit winery on a visit to the region. Firsty, John and Marina are friendly welcoming hosts, eager to share their enthusiam for, and knowledge of their beautiful winery and vineyard. Secondly the wines are first class. Beautiful representation of region, style, variety and personal style. Reds are faultless.
The combination of location, people and wine make this a winery i will visit again and again, and highly recommend the experience to everyone. Put McKellar Ridge on top of the list of wineries to visit.

You cannot go past McKellar ridge wines when in the Canberra region. There are other more famous wineries but this winery is run by a couple who gave up the corporate life to follow their passion and their dreams. The tastings are great fun and they love what they do so much it shines through.

For newbies, they are producing some excellent wines (especially the shiraz viognier and the Riesling) and they are backing this up with both doing degrees in wine making through #charlessturt University. These are wine makers and a vineyard to watch.

The #1 highlight of our trip to Murrumbateman (out of about 10 wineries!). I could’ve easily bought every wine on the tasting menu. I’ve never been a much of a Rosé drinker, I usually prefer a dark red but the 2023 McKellar Ridge Rosé has converted me! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Murrumbateman region.

A great little winery with friendly staff. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed. Don't forget to get a cheese board to help the flavours

Had a tasting and a wonderful chat with the winery owners. They were very welcoming and happy to show us around the winery and discuss their winemaking.

What a great way to spend a few hours.
There may be bigger and flashier wineries around but that doesn't mean they are better. This winery packs a punch for hospitality and you are welcomed warmly from the minute you arrive. My husband & I spent a wonderful morning here. We did the wine tasting and learnt so much from Marina & John, the owners. Their warm welcome and willingness to share information about the wines and their lives as winemakers, makes you feel part of the journey. For novices like us, is made the experience amazing. We ordered a cheeseboard, relaxed and enjoyed the wine and conversation. We have done a lot of cellar doors in Canberra and can't recommend McKellar Ridge Wines enough. Thank you Marina and John, we can't wait to come back!

My girlfriends and I had such a wonderful experience, could have stayed there all day! Our experience at McKellar Ridge Wines started off with a tour of the cellar, followed by a wine tasting of 6 different types of wines, then a walk through the vineyards and waiting for us under a tree was a cheese platter accompanied with wines of our choosing. Highly recommend McKellar Ridge Wines for your next wine tasting experience, John and Marina were so accommodating and such wonderful hosts, their wines were absolutely delicious, the girls and I came home with a few wines. Would definitely go back again and again!

Marina was kind enough to let me try their first Chardonnay before they'd released it and we bought a few bottles!

I have to say I was only the driver to McKellar Ridge Wines. But the hr or so I was there, I noticed that everyone around the place were having a great day. Mostly thanks to the hosts and staff of the property.

McKellar Ridge Wines is a cute boutique winery only 30 mins drive from Canberra. My wife and I visited yesterday with Oscar (our fluffy dog) and Marina was so welcoming. We tasted some lovely wines, the highlight for me was the Merlot Cab Franc. All of the wines here are high quality, definitely worth a visit.

Lovely wines! We have visited their cellar door previously and were missing having the ability to visit John and Marina so we purchased some of their wine online. To our delight, it was such a quick and easy process! The new sparkling Rose is a must try, something to remind us all of more joyful times! We will definitely be purchasing online again! Thank you!

The service and wine at McKellar Ridge is great! I have come here multiple times, everyone is always so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable when making any selections and sampling the variety of wines on offer. The Riesling and Sparkling Rose are particular favourites, so make sure you do come past here when visiting the wineries!

This winery is define to stop at. The wines were awesome and had lots of character. The service was second to none and discussion of the wines very informative. Nothing was too much trouble and our bus driver was offered a hot beverage on a cold day. A personalised visit not to be missed and a very different experience, meaning way better, from the larger wineries.

Visited this winery last weekend and what a pleasant experience it was. They certainly love their wines but it was such a relaxing experience. Need to support these smaller wineries...provided a cheese platter of local cheeses to sample with the wines. We were sold. Shiraz / Pinot Noir and Shiraz Viognier were my favourite.
There is a $5 tasting charge but is refundable with wine purchase which is reasonable....

unlike Lark Hill up the road who charge $10 tasting and NOT refundable with wine purchase.

We called in to McKellar Ridge Winery this afternoon. Great wines, some of which have very high accolades from James Halliday who rated their Trio 94/100. My favourite is the Gold medal winner Shiraz Viognier.
Our hosts John and Marina were so warm and friendly we could have stayed all afternoon. Lovely people.
Well worth a visit!!

A absolutely fantastic experience with an excellent variety of wine. The owners were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to give us a special experience. Would highly recommend a visit to this winery.
