The Lily was a great find with cozy, quaint and comfortable rooms in equal measure. They really are more like apartments with an excellent shower, super comfy beds and everything thought of to make your stay pleasant.
So close to the Stirling Ranges is a bonus if hiking, and the views are incredible.
I can’t recommend highly enough.

I had a marvellous time while staying at The Lily. I was invited to play table tennis with Steve and Pleun in the evenings, and Hennie was very efficient in the office.
Their Tesla charger came in very handy and I’ve already booked to stay next year. Thank you Pleun, Hennie, and Steve for contributing to a great experience.

Kind regards,
Peter.

Amazing accommodation in the Dakota. Amazing hosts, Hennie and Pleun made us feel welcome and at home. Devotedly a must see for anyone looking for accommodation in the region. So much to see and do in the area. Easy access to Bluff Knoll and Castle Rock from here. Did I mention how good the plane is?!

10/10 experience would highly recommend staying here. Super close to Bluff Knoll and the breakfast basket was excellent!

One of the most beautiful and unique experiences staying in the Dakota at "The Lily". The refurbished plane has a beautiful view of the Stirling ranges which was lovely while sipping on your morning coffee listening to the birds, watching the sunset through the cockpit was spectacular. The Dakota is well equipped with everything you'll need, it has all kitchen facilities/ utensils you need to cook your own meals. Pluen and Hennie are such lovely and helpful hosts! We loved our stay. The Lily Is about a 20 minute drive to Bluff Knoll carpark which we hiked. Couldn't recommend The Lily enough! We will be back for sure.

A truly unique and unforgettable experience.
We had the best date night of our lives on the private balcony of the Dakota.
Management are unbelievable and the range of accommodation varies.
I could not make a higher recommendation, leave the kids at home and drive into the country for an experience of a lifetime.
Ps, they also have a Tesla charging station and a private airfield!

I agree, the place is great. OK it is 4.5hr drive from Perth. There is not much in the way of local restaurants/cafes. But everything they have done there is amazing. The DC3 is just what we hoped it will be. It is on a slope being a tail dragger but has 3 'levels' in the floor. The single beds have long legs at the lower end and short legs at the high end! There is a shower, toilet, kitchen (opposite end of plane), wifi...We also stayed in one of the houses. It really is a full house, fully equiped kitchen, fridge etc. Ours had the pig theme - like 200 pig ornaments, hundreds of books ( the other house had an elephant theme).
The windmill also is amazing. Hand built by the owner from recycled resources. The top section weighs 22.5 ton and can be rotated into the wind!
We stayed 3 nights and wished we did 4. 1 day to Bremer Bay, 1 day climbing Bluff knoll ( the next day driving home. Could have got to Albany or somewhere. A 100km drive becomes nothing once you have done the 400km to get there!

This is a beautiful place to stay in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, close to Bluff Knoll and the Stirling Ranges. There are multiple places to stay at The Lily like two Dutch Cottages, and a DC-3 Dakota (Vintage Airplane). For my visit I stayed in the Dakota. It was excellent inside with a small kitchen with a fridge and microwave. However if you are staying in the Dakota there is no oven so keep in mind that. The Dakota is designed for 2 people with 2 single beds. I was staying here in December but be mindful that wind can pick up and become strong so definitely bring a sweater or jacket. On a clear night you would be able to see one of the best views of stars I have ever seen, the Milky Way is amazing. In conclusion this is a lovely place to stay and reading into the history of the place and the Dakota is fascinating.

We stayed here as a base for doing some walks in the stirling ranges. Pleun and Hennie are lovely hosts, the accommodation is small and cozy but has everything you need. The view of the windmill overlooking the stirling ranges is amazing.

I sent mum and Dad over to stay after a skydiving experience, just to give Dad flashbacks to jumping out of a plane.

They loved the accommodation, it was beautiful and homely, with no missing amenities. They also had an issue with their car and caravan and the owner sorted them out, repairing them and sending them on the road free of charge. That level of hospitality and service is u heard of. Thank you Pleun and Hennie for showing them a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful stay at The Lily Dutch Windmill, staying in The Dutch House whilst friends or our stayed in the plane! The accommodation was really lovely, with a wood burning fire and a very well equipped kitchen. It met all our needs and desires! The location is perfect for access to The Sterling Range, with Bluff Knowll just 15 mins drive away and the views from the property are superb! Finally, I would like to thank our hosts who made us feel very welcome, but also left us to it. Perfect!

The photos on the website don't do any justice to how nice it is here. The accommodation and hosts are amazing. Make sure to get the breakfast basket, comes with fresh eggs and bread baked from the wheat ground in the Windmill. Yup windmill is fully functioning and is used to grind the wheat that they grow, to make the flour, that they bake for your breakfast.

Fantastic views of the Stirling ranges.

The price of the accommodation really doesn't represent how well set up the space is. Full cooking facilities with everything you might need. It's really a bargain.

Ask nicely for a tour of the Windmill, it's worth it.

The owners are truly lovely people that run a lovely unique country accommodation. Each building you have to stay is in unique and worth coming back for.

The breakfast tray is a highly recommended addition to add for fresh hot, made on site, bread & jam, eggs, muesli, OJ... A bargain of yummy.

You will want to keep coming back here (and why not).

Enjoy.

Beautiful place, great stay if you want to have some real relaxing, quiet and peaceful time.
We stay at the dutch cottage, it's a nice big Holland house with 1 bed room on the downstairs and large bed room on the attic.
Really nice and beautiful house, with beautiful set up.

Because it's far from supermarket, you will need to bring your own food (meat, vegetables, egg, bread, snacks, etc), the kitchen has stove, oven, microwive, all the kitchen equipment that you need for cooking, there's also spices and cooking oil provided.
There's also 2 fridge, 1 small fridge in the kitchen and 1 big fridge at the back, so don't worry if you're coming to stay with big loads of groceries.

We went there this School Holiday on December (summer) but the weather is really nice and bit windy outside, I'll suggest you to bring some warm jacket just in case it's getting cold.

I bring my work with me during the stay, which I found myself being so productive, finishing lots of my work that I normally can't really finished that much at home (I work from home btw).
I think that's because the relaxing ambience that give me this energy.

Thank you Mr. Pleun and Mrs. Hennie, your place and all the attention to details are amazing.

Found this amazing place when looking for accom near Bluff Knoll. Stayed in the Dakota (plane) and it was my favourite part of the entire trip through the great southern. Pleun and Hennie are just so wonderful and welcoming, the views are spectacular of the Stirling ranges but staying in the Dakota is such an incredibly unique experience. Wifi is available in the plane although didn’t find this out until we checked out and I’m glad. Great way to switch off 👌

Highly recommend staying in the DC3, it is spacious enough for two people with all the self catering facilities (minus an oven) the views are stunning during the day & night. If you're into starwatching or astrophotography, you won't find a clearer sky to get lost in. The owners are lovely and provide breakfast basket for a small charge with home made bread from the dutch windmill.
