Traveller's Rest Hotel

Had dinner here 3 times in 6 weeks and each time the meals were generous and delicious. Great old fashioned country pub with great food. Got your classics a well as some great new menu options on the speciala board. Great service with a smile and good priced too. Highly recommend.

On the way back to Melbourne after a few days away on a golfing trip, we booked in at fairly short notice. The chefs are exceptional as is the service from Maitre d' - absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Very extensive menu, and all 15 meals were prepared and delivered efficiently. Good wine selection, cold beers on tap, Maitre d' looking after us, can't get better than that. This pub was built in 1937 and has been faithfully restored to its beautiful Art Deco origins. Open Wed thru Sunday, highly recommended .

A good old Aussie country pub. Very warm and welcoming. I liked the relaxed separate spaces: the dining room, the lounge room and the bar area, where we enjoyed a game of pool. Bring some $2 coins 😉
The food was yummy. I enjoyed the TRH Parma, which thankfully had the half or full portion option. Half was plenty for me.

Extremely friendly service. The food was delish! This gorgeous pub was well beyond our expectations.

Our first time to this hotel and well worth the trip.the owner and staff were friendly the food was very good,a big shout out to the chef who was by himself and handled the situation exceptionally well. So if you are anywhere near thorpdale pop in you won't be disappointed.

Much better than average pub meals that were delicious. Great service by friendly people. They worked in with various community activities.

Stayed overnight room was great very comfy bed had the best sleep

This quaint little hotel is a gem in the hills, and definitely worth a visit.

First tip - definitely book ahead, this place is popular, and deserves to be so. First time we visited, full up and no table for unplanned visit. Second visit we booked, and again the venue was full.

The restoration has held a lot of charm of the old building, and there is nothing fancy about it. On a cold day, the fire was on, the welcome was warm, and service was delightful.

The atmosphere was friendly, and everyone was enjoying themselves - even the staff. Great vibes for a cosy lunch.

On our table we enjoyed calamari, burger, and mushroom bourguignon. All were excellent, and of a quality far above the average pub fare - without having to claim itself to be a 'gastro-pub'.

Will definitely be back, The Travellers Rest is a new firm favourite.

Have been wanting to come up and see for myself. We were not disappointed at all the Pub has been sympathetically restored to its former glory. The menu is generous and reasonably priced. Great to see local produce and wines on the menu. Staff were amazing the outlook from the beer garden just what we needed. Will become a regular for us when out looking for a feed. Thank you to everyone gad a great lunch on a sunny Saturday.

Couldn't fault Travellers Rest staff were more than helpful nothing was too much trouble.

Went there to have a look at the renovations that have happened over the last few years since the fire. Had a lovely Sunday lunch and were invited to have a look upstairs to see all the new refurbishments. What a surprise very nicely done catering for groups of up to 10 people. Well worth a visit to see for yourself.

Fantastic country pub, lots of character. Friendly staff. Great outdoor space , relax with a cold beer and take in some sunshine whilst enjoying the peaceful surrounds. Top spot!

As a previous local I can definitely say the Travellers Rest is worth a visit. Lovely hosts and excellent menu, the food did not disappoint! 5 stars and we will be back.

Moved to the area a few years ago and always wanted to stop in ...so I did. Great meal and service very reasonably priced.
A rewarding step back in time with some modern flair.
The drive to and from is as equally rewarding along the ridge of emerald rolling fields.

Had dinner in the restaurant at 8pm on a Friday. Had opened for 3 weeks offering an upmarket destination compared to the front bar. Was blown away by the food. 8 of us had dinner and we all agreed that the food was at a quality equivalent to a top Melbourne restaurant but at a price you’d get in Gippsland ($35mains, not $50!). Darren the chef came and spoke to us when we praised his meal. A Melbourne chef from top restaurants trying to get something going here. You have to eat here. Great value! Oh did I mention the $30 bottle of reds? 5 stars from all 8 of us

So happy to have chosen Travellers Rest to have our work break up. We booked the upstairs function room for 20 people to dine and it did not disappoint. The food, service and overall ambience was amazing! Would definitely go again and recommend to others.

This was the lunch destination for a dozen of us on a motorcycle ride from Traralgon. The staff were very friendly and prompt in their service and in the preparation of the meals. A variety of meals were ordered and there were no complaints from any of us about the food quality... great destination!

My wife and I had lunch there today , was meet by a nice staff member , who showed us to our table . had a great meal , staff were very friendly , nice old country pub feeling about the place , good menu , will return .

It's great when a couple of bikers elk in and get treated so well ..... We felt right at home ....
