GOON BBQ

This food was cracked and the staff were so accommodating! We changed our minds on eating in / take out at least 4-5 times like little rodents on a Saturday night, every time they met us with nothing but a smile and a sure we can make that work attitude! The food was great! We got take away in the end for half of it hehe…

Got the $179 bbq set, which came with 4 rice, and many side dishes, plus endless kimchi & pickled radish. We got extra pork belly and Angus beef ribs bc we had extra people.
The rice wine was very enjoyable. And the blue cocktail jug was very tasty, not too sweet.
Would recommend booking, especially on weekends.

Please note , the toilet is down a steep set of stairs.

This was our first time coming here and our server was so helpful and attentive! The chef came out to thank us and asked us how the food was. The food was delicious!

Positive experience! We had the bbq for 3 people and it is more than enough! They bring a lot of Korean tapas along with the meat. The guy explained to us thoroughly what everything was.

I have taken my sister, who is a renowned chef, to many restaurants and watched her pluck them apart. She had nothing but praise for Goon BBQ! She is even sending a glowing review as I write this.

Goon BBQ is still the best Korean bbq in Melbourne. I came here when they first opened and four years later they are better then ever. The courtyard is a great option for large parties and the staff let my friends and I sit there chatting til closing, didn’t rush us even after telling us it was finally time to go. I have been to every kbbq place in nyc and put Goon at the top of “greatest of all time” kbbq places. The meats are marinated perfectly and the side sauces are delicious. We got the Goon BBQ Set which included beef bulgogi, galbi/kalbi, pork belly, beef belly, soup, steamed egg, cheese corn, and rice - all the things you want at Korean bbq. We were allowed to substitute for the Kimchi soup which was the perfect level of spice and flavor. We ordered another pork belly and beef bulgogi after. My friends agreed that it’s way better than anything they had in the CBD. Can’t wait to be back!

I love this place! The sets are very generous in terms of variety and portion size. The vibe is great, its like going through a portal to a cute BBQ place in Seoul! The staff are also lovely.

A great experience and very good quality of meats for what you pay for. We had a lot of food and enjoyed every single thing. A special thanks to Mini (Kim) for serving us. The only things I have to point out are 1 - The ventilation upstairs is not that great, so don’t wash your hair before the meal; 2) The seafood & chives pancake was a tad small - we ordered it to share but in the end due to the size we only had a tiny piece each.

Side dishes were given generously and we particularly liked the steamed egg and salad. The soy powder went well with pork belly and balanced out the fattiness perfectly.

My second time there was just as good as my first. We had the lunch special which was great value for money. Chicken and dumplings and a drink for $25. There was lots of food and it was very tasty. Thanks so much.

Fast and friendly. We dropped in after an event for a quick bite and the waiter was very accommodating. It’s such a nice small place it seems cozy and inviting. The staff are very nice and the food good value. The little paper cups for water are a bit annoying but the food delish!

Delicious food. The staff was very hospitable. A very lovely vibe and atmosphere.

Had soooo much fun at this place and what a great experience! i came to dinner quite bias against Korean bbq. Never like the concept of paying premium to cook my own meal. After dining at goon bbq my mind was quickly changed ! The staff came out and cooked the food for us ! The selection was so full of flavour, fresh and very generous in portions. The place is decorated in such an authentic way, It was like spending a night in Korea. The highlight were the staff. Amazing service and so attentive and polite. I have already booked another table here next week. Highly recommended !!!!!! Very affordable as well :)

If I could rate the restaurant with a 100 stars, I will. The food was great, the service was amazing and the ambience brought us to another place. It was my partners first time eating at a korean bbq, now I can’t remember the server name but he was amazing, he explain to us everything about the whole experience, he was so kind. The place was full of Koreans and still we felt like at home. I will come back soon!

Last visited July 2021 and I couldn’t help but remember about our visit after a discussion with the lads, the food was great but the customer service was next level. 5 stars for Marcus alone, he began as our waiter, but we left as mates. Cheers!

Great food. Great vibes. The team and fantastic welcoming and fun. Love this little spot on smith street. Generous servings and great sides not to mention the awesome Soju!! A great place to come for a fun time and great food/service.

A very popular Korean BBQ restaurant in the heart of Smith Street Collingwood. Goon BBQ provides a great environment and delicious food. The restaurant’s menu provides multiple menu items including BBQ sets for both 2 people and for larger groups of 3-4 people. When ordering any of these BBQ sets, you are provided with sides of fried chicken, corn cheese, bean soup, steamed egg, salad, rice, kimchi, and sliced radish. On top of this you are given a variety of dipping sauces. I have visited this place multiple times and it has always been a pleasurable experience. The staff are also very helpful and whilst we were cooking our own meat the staff would always watch over and help when needed.

There’s so many options for BBQ in Melbourne but I 100% recommend here!! Really great service, we were able to make a last-minute large group booking on a Monday night with no problems. Food was amazing. Had the light bbq set for 3-4 people and even with being the “light” option was more than enough and we didn’t finish it all.

Would also like to add that I thought I lost a precious earring during our dinner and emailed afterwards to check if they’d seen it. I was really impressed and appreciative of the effort made by the staff to look for it and to get back in touch with me to confirm they couldn’t find it. I was lucky to find it on my person a few days later but I still really appreciate it. Shoutout to the team!!

A nice Korean BBQ place with friendly staff. We ordered their Goon BBQ set for 4 of us and we were really full after.

Portion wise, it was big. I think it may be enough for 5 people if you are not too hungry.

The place was a bit dark but it was the normal Korean BBQ restaurant atmosphere.
