Blarney Books and Art

Delightful store with a mix of new books and second hand. Take your time to enjoy the ambience, the store hosts an annual art prize and so is filled with artworks from the many years it has been running. Many gems in the shelves and on the walls, a highlight of my visit to Port Fairy.

What a wonderful hub of creativity. I know about Blarney Books and Art through the Biblio Art Prize, which connects artists with books. It’s such a brilliant idea but what inspired me to write this review is Jo from the store very kindly and carefully sending my painting back to me after it was on show as a finalist. This was done so well, with so much attention to detail, that I would recommend ordering anything at all from Blarney. 10/10

We took our grandson to this wonderful store last week and none of us were disappointed. This is a bookstore that made us all want to choose a book, get a warm drink and sit on one of their wonderful chairs and relax and read. It is warm and welcoming and has a great range of books. This is a must go to in Port Fairy. Well done !

Warm, welcoming, cosy, exciting, quirky, interesting, embracing, humble but definitely filled with 'wow' factor. Adventurous. Regular exhibits and discussions, talks or performances, meaning there is always something to look forward to. It's all covered...visual arts, music, community workshops, literature old and new, local and foreign and everything in-between. And the atmosphere... Just go.

A very unique and quirky book shop unlike any other; the attached art gallery is as top tier as any capital city and the vibes in both spaces are wonderfully eclectic in their own ways. Highly recommend dropping by Blarney Books!

Absolutely delightful new and used bookstore just around the corner main shops at Port Fairy - well worth a visit when you stop in at this town! Well curated collection, particularly love how many local and First Nations authors are spotlighted, great selection of international literary fiction, and the huge displays of categorised nonfiction. If you have children, there is a charming play area amidst the children’s books for them to play in while you sit on one of a few comfy couches.

An experience not to be missed ! Way more than just books and art. New and used books, a jigsaw puzzle swap, chess to play, a fish tank to admire and a wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly sales person! Do yourself a favour - spend time here !

New, secondhand and collectors books for all readers in this colourful bookshop and gallery. Friendly staff who read and know what your next favourite book might be. Lovely freshly painted gallery features interesting pieces from prints to quilts and sculpture. Accessible entry and kid friendly with a chess board for those inclined.

Went on my first day in Port Fairy, kept going back. Such a lovely space, friendly with comfortable armchairs, a train set and even a piano. Just off the main shopping strip so make sure you get to see this gem. Great prices, superb range of books and some lovely art pieces, photos and paintings.

Wow... Outside it looks like a warehouse but inside it is a delight

This is a lovely space which hosts books, art exhibitions and art competitions. It is a space which is a strong part of the Port Fairy community.

Every year we visit the Port, we eagerly anticipate visiting Blarney Books for the art, the books and the atmosphere. If you come to Port Fairy, then include Blarney Books in the time you spend here.

Most gorgeous bookshop/art gallery ever!

A fantastic little bookshop & art gallery. What a collection of used & new books, you could spend hours in there! Everyone is made to feel welcome & there are toys for the little ones.

A delightful way to spend an afternoon! Absolutely loved the art work inspired by individual books. Great collection of new and second hand books, so carefully curated. The bookshop owner gave me loads of recommendations, it was a great way to discover new authors. Great vibe, beautiful comfy chairs to relax, a real treasure trove. Definitely the best bookshop I’ve ever been in!

Blarney is awesome. I walked in with my family and it was a good 20 minutes before we even started shopping - we were enamoured by every detail in this wonderful place. The owner was so generous with her time and attention and indulged every question and conversation point we had. They were very knowledgeable and helpful and lovely. They were lovely to my kids! Such hospitality!

We stayed for a week in Port Fairy and it was so beautiful, but Blarney was probably our favourite thing overall. We loved it and it deserves every bit of praise it gets.

A wonderful hidden gem in Port Fairy. An artistic space mixing a great range of popular and diverse books with local artwork. The shop is incredibly welcoming and the staff have excellent knowledge of their stock. Would highly recommend visiting any time you are nearby - or even not that close by, as it is worth the trip!

One of my favourite bookshops in Australia — make that one of my favourite places! As a former bookshop owner I seriously appreciate what the owners have achieved in the creation of this this extraordinary space. Great selection and great gallery space too. And you seriously couldn't get a warmer welcome. A Port Fairy must visit!
