Fascinating Malaysian food. One of the most authentic ones I have had in Melbourne. Great laksa and lobak, the dumping with duck filling was amazing. Great service as well. Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for Melbourne’s best Asam laksa, don’t miss out this hidden gem in South Yarra. Also, the family-run restaurant offers plenty of Malaysian cuisines. We were so impressed by the authentic roti canai, chicken satay, lobak, dim sims, roast duck curry laksa and char kway teow. Their significant cocktails were the highlights as well. Highly recommended. Will definitely come back!

Had dinner here around 8pm and brought 9 people. After 30mins, the table was ready.
Had 2 portion of dumplings and 1 drink as complimentary.
Great service. Great food.
The taste is different to Malaysian cuisines I've tasted before in a good way.

Such excellent quality and range of dishes. It’s also BYO wine which seems rare these days, but it’s great for people like me who like to BYO. Highly recommend going here.

I had the Barramundi fillet and vegetable green curry. Generous-sized fillet, with green beans, broccoli, red onion, zucchini, capsicum and asked for a side serve of rice. Well cooked and delicious. Green curry is not overly spiced for my mild-loving palate.
Menu offers daily specials and covers gluten-free or other dietary needs, including vegan and vegetarian.

I asked about dessert as the menu is bare in this regard. Yes, if you ask, you get!
Out came a dish of special balls of banana fritters, honey syrup, vanilla ice cream with fresh fruit salad of strawberries, lychees, mandarin segments. Yum.

A cosy yet light and airy environment, that also has outdoor eating on the footpath. And is dog-friendly!

They have a new customer! As a walk-in, I was treated in a most friendly and helpful manner by all the staff.

Busy Malaysian restaurant in Toorak Road South Yarra amongst the busy restaurant district. The menu boasts a wide range of entrees including various dumplings and satays, followed by different Laksa and noodle dishes, curries and rice dishes. Service is quick, staff are helpful and food is authentic and tasty.

The Beef Rendang with Dry Noodle is seriously amazing.

I FIFO to and from Melb for work and make a ritual of stopping by for their rendang every time I'm in the city.

Do yourself a favour and order one, you won't regret it.

Throwback to the time where my friends and I had lunch together at Mai Jia in South Yarra.

It was a cosy restaurant situated in a busy street, serving many options of asian dishes (malaysian, chinese etc). We went there during lunch time but it was quiet. We ordered chicken satay and mushroom skewers and fried tofu for the table. My friends ordered fried soft shell crab and veggies, my bf ordered the seafood laksa and I ordered hainanese chicken rice.

All dishes were so delicious, great portion for the price too ‼ I was surprised that the place was quiet during lunch time when the dishes were THAT good! I can honestly see this place becoming my go-to asian restaurant for lunch in South Yarra.

Funny story, I’ve already styled my hainanese chicken rice for me to take a picture of it. After I finished eating, I checked my camera and there were no photos of that dish at all! I guess I was hungry and the food was too good 😂

Absolutely delicious. Might seem a bit pricey but the portions are large. Highly recommend the creamy butter fried chicken.

Absolutely love Laksa! The laksa here is top-notch, bursting with flavor and just the right level of spiciness. The broth is rich and aromatic, and the noodles are cooked perfectly. The portion sizes are generous, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend trying their laksa if you're in the area.

A hidden gem! I’m so glad this place is just up the road from me. Everything I’ve tried here on the 2 occasions I’ve been so far have been delicious! Favourites being the Poseidon laksa, wat tan hor and spicy chicken ribs! The ladies who run it are super friendly and hospitable. Oh, and the cocktails are incredible! Coming back soon for sure :)

Walking past, we decided to go in. So happy that staff made room for us for a fully booked night. My wife had Laksa fish cake and fish bowl and was amazing as she broth first as it was “prefect balanced”. I really enjoyed and didn’t want to end the Honey Pepper chicken that outside crunch was amazing. Along with the cocktails we really appreciate and enjoyed the night and will be back. Thank you soo much for a great night and fitting us in last min.

I visited Mai Jia with a group of people last Sunday around 9pm. Their customer service was friendly. Food was delicious. The overall ambience was cosy and relaxing, which I needed it. There was many menu options. I would like to re-visit and try other menus as well. I am so glad to find about this place! 🤩

I would travel here just to have their duck laksa again. It is such a generous serve, but I seemed to have all the space to fit the delicious broth and noodles! The duck was crisp on the outside and succulent when you bit into each piece. The laksa curry itself was a star of its own..so flavoursome and the coconut didnt overpower all the beautiful flavours! I wish I didn't live so far away.. I'm still dreaming of this dish alone.

Very nice food! We really enjoyed both our dishes. It almost felt like we were in Malaysia. Reasonably priced within the area! Also extremely friendly people. Will definitely come again!
