Sampoorna Vegetarian Surprise Indian Restaurant

Excellent food at a good price. An honest and friendly family-owned restaurant. It's a small and simple establishment, but if that's what you want then you need go no further.

This is a must visit restaurant if your in Melbourne looking for pure vegetarian Indian food. Located in the suburb of Mount Waverly and away from the noisy city street, this place offers great Indian vegetarian cuisine at very affordable prices. This restaurant has won many awards for it's hygeine, cleanliness and taste including The Shop of the Year in the city of Whitehorse's food hygeine Assessment Award. The hospitality is great as well and mostly importantly they offer food of great taste which reminded me of true Indian flavours. I tried Gobi Manchurian and it was finger licking amongst others. Their self made Mango Lassi and Mango ice cream were sumptuous.. Everyone else with me were very happy with the food they ordered and we we're fully satisfied. I strongly suggest to visit this place at least once and trust me you will be regular here.

A very nice Indian restaurant serving vegetarian, vegan, no onion, gluten free, jain .... as per customer's dietary needs. Good service and tasty food. Lots of parking nearby. Thanks

We organised kids birthday party here for about 20-24 people including kids. The restaurant owners gave us and the guests a wonderful experience.

The place can accommodate about 24 people at one time. The service is great, and the owners are very welcoming to any customisation of food or services to meet the needs of the guests.

One thing that stands out in this restaurant is cleanliness. I would rate it A1 on cleanliness and hygiene - setting a standard much above most other restaurants across Melbourne.

The food is all vegetarian, and options to customise to vegan, Saatvik, or Jain cuisine. The food is home-made style and unlike any other Indian restaurant which sell Indian street style food. The food therefore is less oily, and has no unnecessary spices. Pure-vegetarian option also makes this restaurant a great place to go for a lot of environment-loving people.

Lastly, on charges - the owners didn't charge us anything extra over what was agreed. And they also threw in extra drinks and a few tawa battooras on the house (free of charge).

It was a great experience. We will be back to this restaurant.

Amazing service, amazing food run by a beautiful couple.

Really lovely guy who runs the place. We order the soy dumplings and he was considerate enough to let us know that this batch had a tiny bit of gluten (only an issue for anaphylaxis which we don’t have but was kind of him to let us know in case).

Also gave extra sauce :)

We always dine in at the restaurant and Mr and Mrs Goel are great chefs. Taste is like home, freshly cooked and perfectly tasted. Always recommend 5 star

A truly unique hybrid Indian/vegetarian/vegan restaurant and wonderful local business. An extensive menu that caters for all dietary requirements. I can highly recommend the Soy Tikka Masala, Kashmiri Naan and the Samosas. Lovely owners who cook consistently excellent food. Highly recommended.

Good food, good prices, lovely people, wholesome vibe. Also they have options for different dietary needs that a lot of places done offer- like no onion or garlic.
Will definitely be going back and referring friends.

My absolute favourite restaurant. The family, the food & the service is truly amazing. Easily the best Indian food I've ever eaten (in Australia and India!). Highly recommend the Aloo Bhuna & Soy Tikka Masala. We've been coming here for eight years and it's amazing every single time.

We tried this place tonight and wow, what a gem. True home cooked Indian vegetarian food. Not greasy, just healthy and yummy.

And that makhani Dhall was out if this world. I can't believe how good it is.

How can it be that I only discovered this place today. The ratings don't show the actual yumminess.

Best Indian food ever!!! This is a family run restaurant and their food is all about flavour, flavour and flavour! They don't do oily, heavy curries like most other indian restaurants. Food is made from scratch and it tastes divine! Just like your mom made it (...if you grew up in India eating mostly home cooked food)

Highly accomodating for all different food preferences. Food is freshly cooked and tastes like authentic homemade Indian dishes. Love the fact it's run by a family. You can taste the "love" put into making the food and I appreciated the fact the food wasn't laden in oil. Most of the curries easily convert to vegan (or dairy free) and staff were more than happy to make any adjustments requested (including the heat level in each curry). This was Indian comfort food at its best.

Just tried this restaurant for the first time and it was terrific. Not overly spicy, good flavours, and very reasonably priced.

The samosas were outstanding and the palak paneer really hit the spot.

Will definitely return in the future .

We regularly order from Sampoorna and Absolutely love it. Pani puri is delicious as are the curries cooked lovingly by a husband and wife team.

We always love the food at Sampoorna. Very tasty and homely food. Caring and loving nature of owners there and quality of food will bring you to the restaurant again and again. They accomodated Jain food so well. I thank them for it. I recommend this place.

Delicious food, the best I have had in Melbourne and the sweetest restaurant owners. The Alu Tikki Chat is really good along with the others dishes on the menu.
I would highly recommend the food from this amazing place we found.
