If you find yourself with a day spare or otherwise find a time, please consider trying one of the amazing Traditional Italian cooking classes on offer by Giuliana at The Farmhouse Kitchen.
We joined the Gnocchi making mini class.
1. The drive through Cygnet and the Huon Valley is worth the day trip.
2. Upon arrival we were greeted by name, presented with our aprons and welcomed into such an amazing home. The kitchen and dining areas were clean, spacious and altogether pleasant.
3. Giuliana's passion for authentic Southern Italian food and culture was captivating.
4. Giuliana and culinary sidekick Lucy were such an efficient and well-prepared team, with a great humour and warmth. Such fun to be in the kitchen.
5. Although the class is initially by demonstration, Giuliana and Lucy keep you involved in the process by touch, sight, smell and cultural insight at every step.
6. The final communal lunch of our own making is set at the farmhouse dining table. Well presented with a great atmosphere. We really had such a pleasant and relaxed meal.
7. If you are lucky enough to meet other members of the family or have a tour of the garden, what a nice way to end your visit.
We will be back. Well worth every cent.

We did a half day pasta class with Giuliana and it was amazing! Really great to learn the best tips first hand from someone who has been making pasta her entire life, we learned so much and regularly make pasta using her recipe. Also love there farmhouse location and the kitchen is stunning.

A huge thank you to Giuliana and Lucy for a magnificent winter warmers master class with soups, risotto and traditional Italian beef stew. All the dishes prepared were delicious, full of flavour, colour and texture.
I would highly recommend attending any of Giuliana’s classes - a day full of fun and information.

I participated to the gnocchi class in December. I discovered the real taste of this dish, which has very different from the ones you buy in supermarkets! It was two hours of intensive class where Giuliana taught us the recipe and gave us some tips to make things easier and shared with us the history of her country of origin, Italy. Having already done several cooking courses, this one is really different, focused on exchange and sharing, which is due to the limited number of participants and the wonderful duo that Giuliana and her daughter Genevieve form. The must was the end of the course where we all sat around the table to enjoy the food and discuss, it was a pleasure !
Thank you again The Farmhouse kitchen! I'll be back.

Fabulous day spent with Guiliana, Nonna and Genevieve preparing, cooking and eating the most wonderful traditional gnocchi. Guiliana was so welcoming and friendly and her passion for her southern italian cuisine was infectious. The tiramisu and espresso to finish were equally impressive. Thank you so much! I loved it and will be back.

Just spent an absolutely lovely day at Giuliana's Farmhouse Kitchen along with my husband for the pasta class. It was fun, informative, practical, hands-on and....delicious! Not only did Giuliana make pasta and sauce-making look easy, she also shared with us the history and background of so many of the dishes, helping us understand some of the principles of Italian food and cooking. That was a definite bonus. In a short amount of time, Giuliana succeeded in showing us numerous variations of sauces and pasta shapes and styles (including vegetarian, thank you!) and also helped all of us learn more about overall cooking techniques, something we all appreciated. My husband especially appreciated how Giuliana's instructions and recipes for pasta-making are simple and straightforward and he is therefore really looking forward to making these dishes at home.

Giuliana is a natural teacher and story-teller and was able to lead us through multiple dishes while sharing the origins of Italian food, demystifying cooking and answering our questions with literally many pots of water boiling at the same time!

The kitchen, home and setting are all beautiful which made the class all the more enjoyable and relaxing. Throughout the day, we also enjoyed delicious coffee, tea and treats. We look forward to having more Italian food in our lives and Giuliana has brought us there with her amazing lessons. We certainly recommend Giuliana's classes to anyone interested in food and cooking! A wonderful and memorable experience.

Grazie

I have done a few of Giuliana's classes now and thoroughly enjoyed each one! Each class has provided me with new cooking skills to cook amazing new dishes (and really improve the dishes already on my repertoire) and also given me a fascinating insight into the history of the food and the region.

She presents the skills in such a way that you leave feeling really able to recreate things yourself. And the days themselves are an absolute treat! You learn in a warm, friendly, homelike environment and then sit down to an amazing meal with new friends. No wonder no one wants to be the first to leave at the end of a beautiful day:)

We learnt so much more than how to make pasta from Giuliana! We learnt about life in Puglia, and life in Tasmania for the post-war migrants. Entertaining, articulate and efficient, Giuliana had us absorbed all day and then we sat down to eat! And it was all delicious. I feel confident to give it all a shot at home now. It felt like a little Italian holiday.

I have just had the most beautiful day at The Farmhouse Kitchen with Giuliano and Genevieve. The
Italian Feast class was fantastic and the Cannelloni and chicken soup courses were a complete highlight for me. It was great to watch the techniques used to create beaitiful dishes from their Italian heritage.
I will be making the recipes provided and also learning from the different ways of doing things. Propper chopping being one!
Our lunch was wonderful and the company of all much appreciated. You feel welcomed and very much part of a great family. We swapped stories and had a great time.
This is one of the very best things I’ve done this year and it is definitely the best cooking school I’ve attended over the years!

What a lovely day we spent with Guiliana and her daughter ! We chose the "Pane, Pizza, Focaccia" master class and learned so many things you can make with a simple bread dough. We didn't see the day go by and the meal and the cake were just excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed, warm and friendly !
We left with the recipes, the smile and the desire to come back.
A big big thank you to Giuliana and Geneviève !!!

100% highly recommend. I love cooking and have done a lot of it in the past, but I learnt so much and in a fun and welcoming way. If you have any interest in cooking, or just want to share in a really amazing meal then you need to go!

The mini pasta class was so great, and what a view from the lunch table! I have learned so many tips that will hopefully improve what I make in the kitchen at home.

We had a great day at the Farmhouse kitchen doing the Also Fresco recipes. Convivial friendly atmosphere, great recipes and information followed by a relaxed meal of the creations. I have already booked for the bread making day.
