Cannot believe how hospitable they were!
Best tastes of Tasmanian whiskies and Oysters…!
Cannot recommend it enough of you are a fan of classy secluded fine dining.
We almost spent 3 hours in the restaurant and ultimately enjoyed a top notch service as well as a super tasty lamb shoulder!!! (Its a must try)

We decided to make a reservation and dine here, out of the available choices with little idea what to expect. We were seated at a table by the window with a wonderful view of the bay. The staff were friendly and the food, wine and cocktails on offer were all very good. My fish dish in particular was delicious. We are hoping to get back to this part of Tassie again, as there is so much to see and we would happily dine here again.

I just got there feeling like celebrating my birthday (even though it was in November) and the staff made that happen. I mean, look at that photo! Thats the Chef coming to check how my breakfast was.
Lovely staff, the local girl makes the best coffee in the Peninsula and there was a UK girl, whos hair color was stunning, that just made my morning!
I will definitely be coming back :)

Over the last 18 or so hours , I have come for dinner & breakfast , and each meal was amazing .

The service is very friendly , admittedly it wasn’t too busy however I felt a family environment or connection between staff.

The food was absolutely delicious, oysters and fish and chips.
Beer & Wine selection was great .
I then can back for breakfast. Same front staff member who was very welcoming.
Bacon and eggs 🥚 and coffee was very good.
The view of the water is on point.
I can definitely recommend this restaurant - a great option within Port Arthur - super happy that I came here .

Relaxed atmosphere and good food beautifully presented. Lovely to sit by the window, overlooking the water, enjoying a glass of wine. Just what you need after a long day exploring this beautiful area.

Beautiful restaurant the interior was lovely, views would be great during the day. Staff super friendly and menu has good variety. Cheesy garlic bread was sooo delicious.

October 2021. We were staying at Stewarts Bay Lodge, the weather was quite miserable and raining quite heavily. So we decided to dine locally at the in-house restaurant, On The Bay. We booked quite late, and we managed to secure a table. We had in tow with us two children under five. The team placed us near the kids corner and the kids were served early and promptly. We opted for the three course meal and thoroughly enjoyed everything. As the kids were becoming a little restless, we requested our deserts to be takeaway to be enjoyed in our cabin. The team obliged and arranged this without any hesitation. The evening was truly enjoyable, which is a credit to the team. Thankyou.

Absolutely delicious. This restaurant is awesome. Quality of food was superb and the service excellent. Staff very friendly, attentive and obliging. Decor was warm and friendly. Very clean throughout.

4of us dined Friday night 13march ?? 2 of us are vegetarian . All our food was excellent, i had the king fish for main , OMG at last someone knows how to cook a real chef. Fish was fresh , cooked lovely and with out it been covered in batter or breadcrumbs like most eaterys down here who serve !!!!!! Highly recommend On The Bay

There were not many food options for dinner during our stay in Port Arthur so I found this restaurant overlooking the bay and was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in till the moment we got out was a really good experience from the service from the staff to the quality of the meals was excellent.

Would definitely recommend and go back there again.

It’s easy to look good when everything is going well but it takes skill to manage troubles when they arrive in battalions Tonight was a night for battalions: down both a chef and a waiter, there were struggles at both front and back if house. We didn’t know the cause of the problem when we complained to the manager, who was putting the kitchen back on its legs. But this is what she did: she listened, she explained, she apologised and (though we neither asked for or expected) she discounted our bill significantly. And she found and rd me when I left my bag behind.

I didn’t mention the food: excellent across all our plates.

Went with my JPT Tours group of 6 and everything was perfect. All the staff were absolutely amazing and so helpful. Thank you guys so much. Customers enjoyed their meals and were very happy.
Location of the restaurant and views from inside the restaurant were beautiful. I would definitely recommend Gabriel’s for future tour groups as well as friends and family.

Visited Port Arthur as part of our family holiday. Travelled with 3 young children all under 6. It was an amazing place to stop for meals. It is situated within a Lodge. The restaurant/bar is classy and had an impressive water view. The restaurant had a corner of books and toys for the children and a kids menu.
Food was yum! And their kids corner was a bonus that kept them entertained.
Will definitely visit again when we next come to Tassie.

What a fantastic restaurant. The ambience, the staff, and of course the wonderful food.
We were greeted by very friendly waitresses, and both were very efficient.
We ordered the warm olives and squid for our starters. The olives and the crispy bread were stunning and the squid with watermelon and feta salad, went beautifully together.
We then had the pea risotto and my husband the market fish with Mediterranean vegetables. Both meals were cooked to perfection. All the scallops in the risotto, so sweet and tender. And my husbands fish was perfectly cooked. We can honestly say, tonight was the best meal we have had while travelling in Tasmania.

We went for breakfast and found the staff were friendly food and was great and quite quick. The coffees were ok and the prices weren't too bad.

Great service! Very friendly staff! Amazing food! Well priced! Totally enjoyed the experience!
