Food: 10/10!!

We drove almost 3 hours to the local camp site to see somewhere new, we drove in to ‘town’ to see what was there, and found this pub. They were very welcoming to us and our children and had an arcade game for them to play while we waited for our meals. The walls had many interesting articles, pictures and artefacts to look at too which was nice. It was neat, tidy and a welcoming ascetic.
We ordered a Mexican chicken Parma from the special menu and WOW, probably one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten in my life.
Fresh, bursting with flavour and a massive filling meal! I feel like I will come back to this camp site again just to get another Mexican Parma!

Thank you to the owners and staff who were so welcoming. It’s often a bit daunting walking into country pubs as a family with young kids, and we felt very welcomed. It was a really nice experience for us all round.

We stayed at Araluen Valley Hotel for two nights. My brother and a mate had ridden down from Bungendore via Captains flat (such a great adventure ride). We were met by Norm (the Republican) and a cold beer. Relaxing outside with a beer and superb views of the mountains and foreground of lush green hills, cows and birds.
After our beers we were shown to our rooms and we were plenty surprised with how nice the old building was and cleanliness of rooms. Even with shared facilities (as expected at an old country hotel), they were always clean and tidy.
Onto the food... Nothing short of bloody great. Huge meals and the best chips. We had beef burgers, vegan burgers, fish and chips, steak 🥩... All amazing for taste!
The location is ideal for travelers that want to explore the surrounding area. We were bike packing and will 100% return to stay and enjoy this hidden gem of a valley.
Thanks to Norm and family for a great two days. See you next time.

Partner and I were waiting out a storm before setting up camp down the road, came in for a late dinner and the staff were happy to cook us fish and chips even though the chef had already gone home. Couple cold beers and a generous feed kept us busy until the storm passed and we were on our way. Missus pat a cat and a couple dogs. Will certainly be back again. Cheers

Stayed at the Araluen pub as part of the cloudride 500km bike ride from Canberra. Awesome hospitality from Norm and his lovely wife and Adam. I was on my own and pub was shut but they looked after me 2nd to none with a nice cold beer and parma the size of my head. Breakfast in the morning was an added bonus. Thanks guys will be back !

Booked into the Araluen Valley Hotel for 4 nights and commuted to and from my Neringla farm whilst I undertook some exhausting site works.

After the long trip from Sydney I was greeted with a lovely ‘Hello’ from Chuckie the cockatoo, followed quickly thereafter by Norm and his friendly wife who gave me a tour of the historical old pub.

All I wanted was a clean room, a comfy bed with access to clean and tidy amenities. Well… I certainly was not disappointed.

My room and the amenities (old fashioned but certainly sufficient for my needs and as I would expect for an old world building such as this) were not just clean but they smelled clean as well.

At the end of each day of labouring on the farm I enjoyed a hot shower, good food and a laugh with the locals. The generous meals were delicious … loved the fresh vegies from the garden (especially the corn on the cob) and then I slept like a baby in my comfy bed.

I now understand why I always see folks relaxing outside the Pub in the chairs provided on the eastern veranda. It is the perfect place to just sit and enjoy a cold one or a coffee whilst watching the vista unfold with cows in the field and rolling hills and mountains as a backdrop.

I’ll be back for sure!❤❤❤❤❤

Pub doesn't open until midday. Understandable, as it's the only business in town. Would be hard to find staff etc. Very busy though, with heaps of farmers; Canberran's; motorcyclists; and locals. Come with your appetite as the pub meals are huge.

Araluen's one and only hotel/pub. Open Wed-Sun for lunch/dinner + accommodation. Good value pub grub and quiet country town atmosphere. Worthy stop to explore the historic gold town of Araluen about 55km from Moruya and 30kms from Braidwood.

What a great regional pub. Norman was great to deal with. Bought my van around the back and helped me get back on the road. Great service and friendly patrons, will make a detour again

Great old fashioned pub that hangs on to that relaxed, country feel. The food is very generous in size, didn't take too long to arrive and tasted great, and the customer service was spot on, and we were well looked after.
Thanks guys for a wonderful lunch 😁

Amazing view, food was 5 stars for a pub style, and the bar staff were incredibly polite, friendly, and caring. At one point, the barman gave me water after noticing I had had too much to drink. The general environment was 5 stars. Only down side was room age, but the price was very reasonable. Thankyou to all the staff.

We stayed there overnight as a midway point for our bike adventure. We got there late on a rainy night. Norman and his family could not be more hospitable. Up late just to stay open for us, hot dinners, cold drinks. Looked forward to hot showers in the communal bathroom. Rooms were basic but exactly what we needed. Also didn't expect to have breakfast included, self service with bread, spreads, cereals, tea, coffee, juice. They also offered us a pick up if we needed and their number if we ran into any trouble for rescue. Highly recommended stay on your adventure through here.

Don’t tell anyone about this great country pub. Too many people will reduce the charm. Cold beer, hot food and a nice spot to sit and watch the world go by (slowly). Great in summer, but I expect it is equally nice when around the fire in winter. Friendly service and special views around the valley.

A go to destination for motorcyclists. This pub serves up the best rissoles and mash, or chips. Not forgetting the beer is always cold. I go here at least once a year but need to improve on that.
