Always well worth a stop as fuel is usually cheaper but check and ask for the locals discount.I go to eat at the restaurant as it has old world charm and the liver and bacon is great and usually unavailable elsewhere. New lessee has a lot of ungraded underway while still retaining the truck stop atmosphere as opposed to modern ones. Hope he doesn't change the name from Black Mountain Truck stop to just BP as their stops are all the same. He intends to make it both biker and grey nomad friendly. It has heaps of free parking and a motel attached. Don't forget it sells Guyra potatoes and Guyra vine tomatoes.
Didn't see the local products (10/2/2023) this time.
The lambs fry was shocking usually very good but think this had been frozen as the out side just crumbled like breadcrumbs and not nice tasting. Milk coffee was excellent and offered to refill if needed FOC. Fuel doesn't match the Ampol truck stop North of Guyra now even with locals 4c litre discount. Diesel at Ampol was down to 193.9 (12/02/2023) Black Mountain was 210.9

I would go back for the food and old fashioned hospitality. A little place in rural NSW area that has great staff and service, and as a truckie that type of service and atmosphere at that time of the night will just make you want to come back. The food is great cooked fresh and the friendly service is top notch. Just sorry I didn't get their names so I could mention them in this post.

Generous, tasty breakfast serve, nicely presented by very friendly staff.
Sanitiser and gloves at front door. Spacing of seating and cleaning between diners thorough and reassuring.
Well done both staff Sunday morning.

Service is great. The staff are polite and even when they so make mistakes they fix them witho7t complaint. The food is what you edpect from a truck stop (or a fried chixken franchise) but it's a great version of that. I highly recommend.

First off you need to understand that if you aren't used to Australian Country Hospitatlity, this place will knock your socks off.
There are several teams of people running it since it is open 24 hours. The place is a giveaway for good food because there are always trucks there resting up on driving time.
If you are in a car or minibus traveling between Sydney and Brisbane, especially if you are unfamiliar with night-long drives, at 10:30 at night this is a lifesaver. Break your trip here, spend half an hour and say g'day to people whose job it is to save lives-yours included.
