A hidden gem!! Really a great get away from the stress of city. Me and my husband stayed in ROCKHOUSE.
We really enjoyed every moments from when we came here till we left.
We extended our stay for one more day. The spa was extraordinary and relaxing. To increase our happiness, we found the animals wandering around the property. They are super friendly as well.
Eloise was really helpful and responsive.
Another breathtaking things was picnic spot. Spectacular views of nature. We fell in love with this place. Not to mention, the bed bath was really comfy. The soothing sound of birds in the morning is really awesome

This was our second visit, and it was just as wonderful as the first! It is a quiet getaway, but it is still close to home. The free roaming animals are definitely a highlight of our visit, alongside the relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

This amazing place is not only beautiful but the hosts made this place a home over the last few days! Took us 5months to get this holiday on the way, but Eloise made it effortless from the start till the end! Thanks guys for having us we will definitely be back 😁

Just got home from a lovely midweek stay at the Hunter River Retreat. I highly recommend. We also got 2 grazing boxes and couldn't have been happier with the quality of produce. So if your looking for a getaway within 1 hr of Newcastle I would say check it out.

What a beautiful place to stay - the views were stunning and the cottage was nice and clean and very cosy. Love the entrance as you drive in being greeted by the animals and definitely recommend arriving at night so you you can see the beautiful lights from the boat display and the truck. Thank you Eloise and Troy me and my husband had a wonderful experience.

Earlier this year my partner and I spent 2 nights in the Olive Cottage and it was absolutely amazing! Beautiful views from the cabin, lovely cosy furnishings inside with spa and fire place. The perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We very much appreciated Eloise's care and nothing was too much, we were very comfortable and enjoyed our time immensely! Highly recommend, we will be back!

Beautifully run family business with attention to detail.. nothing is too much for Eloise, just so so helpful!! The cabins are old and rustic but so clean, cozy and well maintained on the inside. The owners work hand in hand with local caterers for a personal touch and for a little extra provide brekky hampers and those special nibbles hampers that can be arranged to be there upon arrival.
Communication in regards to finding and entering the property are clear and easy to follow and understand.
The fellow residents, (pony, miniature donkeys, alpacas, chickens and highland cows) are a novelty and are so curious and friendly. All in all, well worth the stay! So peaceful and relaxing and some very pretty woodland walks and scenery at our fingertips. Loved our stay and would highly recommend!

Thank you Eloise and Troy for a fab couple of days at Hunter River Retreat! A place of perfect peace to leave the worries of life far away. An amazing walk to the lookout with the magical views of the Hunter all around. Round it off by sharing the afternoon in the company of Smokey, Max and Elliot, and the wondrous bird life. What next? Well, settling in front of the fire with some delightful Hunter reds and that's a wrap! Can't wait for the next visit!

What a stunning and peaceful place to visit for our annual girls getaway. We booked to stay 3 nights at the Rockhouse Cottage in the new year and absolutely loved our time there. Eloise and Troy made the entire experience seamless and fun, with fast responses and nice touches upon our arrival. The cottage had everything we needed to cook our own meals, to stay entertained, offered plenty of space to hang out and sleep, and even had an indoor jacuzzi. We ducked out to Pokolbin for the day (about 30 mins drive), but otherwise spent our days enjoying a BBQ, feeding the resident donkeys and horse, and soaking up the fresh air. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a home away from home or even a city-escape. Thanks for making our trip so special x

Fantastic venue. I have stayed here twice now and Barbara and Tom have been exceptional hosts. Cabins are homely and well decorated with a hot tub on the balcony. Very peaceful and relaxing - a fantastic escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Absolutely amazing spot to spend a few days away. Bit of a drive to the Hunter Valley if you're planning on doing wine tours, but the isolation and serenity is definitely worth the extra 40 mins or so! (plus there are wine tour operators willing to pick up from this location for a small extra fee, like John from Cheers Bus)

FABULOUS if you want to get away from it all. Fireplace, spatula, big bed, immaculate AND a free bottle of wine. Didn't see a soul for 3 days. Just what the doctor ordered!

Beautiful place for a very cheap price! Has a jacuzzi and treats for us inside as well. Very private and the cabin was very cosy and clean.

Amazing cabins and scenery. Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Close to many local vineyards. Very tidy.

Tranquil relaxing soothing enchanting and what not. Exquisitely pleasent. Enjoyed subrise and sunsets of the valley.
