This is an amazing hike. The best one I had in the Blue Mts. It’s about 4.5km straight hike from the parking and then this huge rock formations form before you, with deep valleys stretching all across. A majestic site. It tends to be very hot so bring a lot water. It’s also quite unpopulated, because of the long hike, so It’s perfect if you want some solitude and just enjoy the nature. Highly recommend

Amazing hike with a great view. Takes around 3h return. End of the hike is pretty steep, so good shoes and mosquito spray are required. Just drive up as far as possible to the location and park in front of the gate. From there it’s just straight all the time.

The fire trail is good and easy for bike riding, running, or walking
There's an 80 cm gap close to the end, don't be afraid, it's worth jumping over it 😉

I took the train at Blackheath Station. Afterward, I walked from the station. Hanging Rock is incredibly beautiful. Additionally, the wind is very strong, but the weather is exceptionally clear.

Average walk in a bush, but the end, where the hanging Rock is, is really nice.
It's funny also to jump on the hanging Rock.

Family and friends went hiking here over the weekend. I got there early in the morning and the air was cool and fresh. It was serene and calming. We had children with us so the hike took longer then expected but it wasn't a problem. Everyone was happy. The views are phenomenal, the trek is easy for everyone of all ages including pets.

Very easy and super accessible (by car) 10km walk. Google maps will lead you straight to the car park- road to car park is sealed all the way except a tiny part at the very end. Plenty of parking although some parts are rough and uneven (speaking from a tiny 2wd point of view). NSW said it’s a 2hr total to complete, if you are not rushing and have a long break at the end to take some pictures- allow double the time. It felt like on the way to hanging rock it was a downhill walk and the way back rather uphill, but very very gentle. We were there when the Waratahs were blooming, very beautiful and all over place. The last few hundred meters are a steep hike down the hill and if you want to step on hanging rock, you have to jump over a veeeery deep crack 🙈 it’s less then 1m to get across but a bit uneven on both sides - I chickened out😅 Many people did it though.

Great views at the end, the fire trail can be a little boring. Bring a bike if you can.

This is one of the best places to see the blue mountains. We walked the burramoko fire trail, a 11.5km round trip, mostly dirt tracks with a more intense rock track at the end. Standing on the edge of the hanging Rock is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the thrill seekers out there.

One of the most interesting views from Blue Mountain. If you have been touched down at Grand Canyon Walking Track , it will be more easy to go up the great view of this Hanging Rock. Photos were taken in June 2021

This has to be one of my favourite spots in the Blue mountains
It's quite a long walk through the firetrail from the parking lot, and there isn't a lot to see until you get there. However the view is magnificent and truly a gem of the Blue Mountains.
Be careful if you're actually planning on going onto the Hanging Rock as there is a small gap you have to cross which is a long drop and certainly death. It's a small gap but deadly if you take a wrong step.
Definitely recommend this place as the view is panoramic and wonderful.
Note that to get to hanging rock you need to turn left after reaching the view point and scaling down the mountain side which is moderately difficult and dangerous

Truly breathtaking, if you dare...stand near the edge. Be very careful, no fencing and a 250 metre drop straight down! An amazing experience. Highly recommend.

Great views and easy walk up to it.
Slight bumpy track for a couple of Kms before you park.
The walk down to Hanging rock itself is not for kids and the 'gap between the rocks is about 1m to step/ jump over

Nothing beats the smell of fresh air. Not unless you also have an amazing view.
From where you park your car it is about 30-45min walk to get to hanging rock but it is definitely worth it. It is an absolute must.

Excellent place for those who are looking for amazing nature walk/hike.
We started by morning 7 and finished 10.5 KM return hike to car park by 11 PM.
It was awesome climate bit chilly, misty and fresh.

Clouds were really low and you could feel walking through the thick fog.

This was my visit after unfortunate bushfire season, witnessed large scale burned trees left behind by the tragedy. But it was good to see that nature was healing itself again slowly.
I hope to visit again soon to hope to see much better and recovered forest.

Overall amazing place to visit and get close to the Mother Nature.

Not much to see for the first 5km. But easy walk along a fire trail. Great views at the end. Highly recommend going around sunset.

This place is an hour walk from the car park. We went on sunny and beautiful day. I won’t recommend going on rainy day as it is very steep and doesn’t have actual path to the rock. The walk is boring and pretty much nothing to see. If you don’t like walking then bringing your bike will be a wise idea. It has a very good gravel, mostly flat road. You will end up to this place out of nowhere and amazes you. Definitely not good for the people who are scared of heights.

Trail head is only a short walk out of Blackheath.About 4km each way. The walk out and back is along the Burramoko Fire trail through native bush land, some burnt in the 2019/20 summer fires. When you arrive the views are spectacular and well worth worth the walk. One of the best view points in the valley.

11km return (out to hanging rock itself). Mostly flat fire trail majority of the way. We walked at a brisk pace & arrived after an hour. On the way back, we went at a moderate pace & had a few stops due to the heat (exposed track) which took 1.5hr. Allow 3 hours total. The view at the end is amazing. The jump across the gap out to the rock is slippery & uneven, so I didn’t take the risk. Remember, a cool photo isn’t worth dying over - so be careful! Follow along on our adventures around Australia @sambolomio

Absolutely phenomenal, the track can be missed, so look out for it on your left hand side. It's definitely worth the walk/ride. No rails or anything so be careful!
