Without exception every time I'm in Hawthorn, I stop in to the Elgin Inn. Not only are the staff consistently amazing, Anna has been here each time. Her constancy and huge smile is welcoming like being with family. Jamie at the counter is the best as well. His friendliness, energy and nothing is too much trouble. Not to mention the food - the best there is in this category. I had the battered barramundi and the fish was perfect. Batter light crispy fish tastes fresh. The salad was a decent size, perfectly dressed. All ingredients freshly made and top quality. chips were thickly cut and crispy out and velvety in. Love this place. My unrivalled favourite. 🥰👍

What a local gem this place is. Thriving with energy and a welcoming vibe. As soon as you walk in you feel at home and are greeted immediately with a friendly smile. The food is great and portion size quite large. You can't go past the excellent specials menu.
I had the calamari and it was fresh and cooked to perfection, hubby had the parma and said it was the best he'd ever had!! The chips are so crunchy and crispy! We'll definitely be back!

This review is a review of a PUB, not a restaurant. Nevertheless the meal I had - (Nepalese) Lamb Curry - could have put some restaurants to shame. The curry was delicate and delicious in flavor. The service was friendly and considerate, but pub standard - one had to order and pay at the bar.

Omg you have to try the pizzas here. IMO one for the best for a pub style resto! The cheese just oozes so well and perfectly made my drooling keep coming!

Always great to spend an evening here with friends. I mainly come for the Quiz on a Wednesday night. The Parmas are delicious. Just wish the beer was a little cheaper.

Great atmosphere, many rooms and different vibes depending on what you feel like. Having a beer watching sport or relaxing in the upstairs large balcony to enjoy there delicious and well priced meals. We had steak and a Parma and it was as delicious as the time before and the staff were outstanding 👌

Delicious food. Pizza was loaded! Nice atmosphere with friendly staff. Came here for dinner however, I had a function a couple of years ago and it was amazing. Once again, the food and service was brilliant. Worth a visit

Good pub. Good food. Old school pub vibe in main area and nice upstairs if you're feeling fancy. If it had a pool table then it'd be perfect!

I had my daughter's birthday dinner at the Elgin Inn tonight. There were 12 of us, and we had a great night. Meals all came together, delivered by cheery staff.

I didn't eat this time but always a great experience at the Elgin. Classic Aussie pub in the heart of Hawthorn. Not many left like this any more. The food is always good and the service is excellent.

Firstly, I don't do one-off reviews. if I write about a place I've been there at least twice, probably more.
Elgin Inn is a pub, and you're getting pub-grub. What stands it out is the ambience, the quality of the food and the excellent service. You can enjoy the sports bar area with the numerous screens showing numerous sports, or the more private dining area or in summer the rooftop tables area. Great.
The food is better than your standard pub fare, it's well prepared there's a very good range (try the crying Caesar Pizza or the 350gm Black Angus rump! ) and it's delicious.
what stands out is the service. Excellent. Very helpful, very cheerful staff whose focus is to make you enjoy your stay. (Hope you get Anna - she's a beaut.)
Easily my favourite pub and a great place to enjoy a meal with the family - or with a mate watching the game.
Will go back, as I always do.

Great place, late Sunday afternoon dinner and drinks finish a perfect weekend

We stopped in at this pub after the markets and ended up staying till closing. Really fun vibe and great service from friendly fellow Aussie barman Benji. Comfy sofas, good food, great cocktails.

Thanks for hosting our wonderful family get together last night. 18 of us from all over Australia gathered with our 98yo aunt/great aunt. Venue was perfect, accessible for her walker, food was brilliant...everyone was satisfied! The staff were so accommodating...Anna looked after us and the bar staff stuck around as we all enjoyed the catchup. Thanks guys. Excellent x

Best pizza in Melbourne.. keep your lygon street $40.00 pizzas. These beauty's are half the price twice the flavour and are consistent 👌

Had the steak and it was really good! $16 on Monday and Wednesday on special, cooked beautifully and sauce was delicious. Generous portions of fries and salad too. Will be back for more.

Great space in the upstairs function room that we decorated for a 21st. The pub charm is the perfect party venue. The staff were terrific. The function food was tasty. Special thanks to the kitchen for catering to dietary requirements.

Have been going to Elgin Inn now regularly with 7 ex work colleagues over a period of 5 years. Anna to be complemented for her service.. great menu and service

Love this place, great for an end of work catch up in the rooftop area, which is dotted with blinds to stop everyone from being blinded at sunset, very useful. Staff are always very friendly and helpful
