For locals and travellers, it is worth a stop even for a quick visit. Kid, adult, and dog friendly and free! Beautifully managed with footpaths, clear labelling, and a plethora of plant varieties with a nursery. Visitor centre has a lovely gift shop. Consider donating to support this place.

I went with a group of friends and we decided to just walk through the free routes and it was a really lovely hike through some very beautiful terrain. Highly recommend walking through here and to take a look at the different statues and plants available 🪴

Very cool Botanical Gardens. Lots if different plants with signs showing the scientific and common names of the plants. Free entry. Big area. Great to just walk through for 10 minutes for a quick look or if you’re a plant lover you could spend hours there.

Stopped by here for a quick “pit stop” on the way back from Coober Pedy to Adelaide. It was a beautiful place where our quick pit stop turned into a 2 hour break. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see that they had sections on how to make low water gardens at home. The park also came along with a great cafe where they sold all native foods and bush Tucker. I recommend trying the native tasting plate and of course the selection of indigenous ice creams such as wattle seed and bush lime. I highly recommend a visit and supporting the gardens as they receive minimal government funding and do an amazing job.

I'm not normally into plants but I enjoy visiting the Australian Arid Lands Botanical Park. It is a gorgeous area and the sign posting is very engaging. Lots of different areas to explore so there is something for everyone. And it's continually changing as different areas grow! Fantastic free attraction in Port Augusta. They have a lovely visitor centre as well.

An amazing array of plants from our arid areas. Who knew there were so many beautiful lush plants and stunning flowers growing out there in such harsh climate. I did the self tour on Sunday in the rain and loved it so much I came back for the guided tour with Shirley on Monday morning. Thoroughly enjoyed it, well worth the visit and definitely jump on the 10am tour.

A great place for a peaceful walk- lots of bird life and a wide range of plants. Lots of different pathways to walk through- most accessible to anyone. Unfortunately the cafe was closed due to storm damage on my visit but I will return on another trip to try that out!

I visited three days in a row so that gives you an idea of how much there is to cover. On day 1 we visited the cafe, let our kids play in the nature playground and checked out the regional gardens, demo gardens and children's trail. That took a whole day. On day 2 we visited in the afternoon to eat the pie of the day and do the red cliff walk. We saw a few kangaroos too. On day 3 we visited in the morning and did the guided tour, which I highly recommend. We had cake and bought souvenirs also. The eco building was so warm on the sunny side that I could sit there in winter in a T-shirt.

These gardens have to be amongst the best in Australia. Well thought out exhibits (loved the garden ones) and different habitats to explore. The bird hides, although quiet, are obviously the result of a lot of hard work. Red kangaroos on the surrounding heath land and terrific birds in the garden make this a must visit.

It's more technical than most people will understand. The Regional Walk is worth the longer walk, and without too many other's, you can see the animals. The flies are so bad, bring a beekeeper's hat & veil.

A must see garden. I highly recommend visiting it, and please ask for the tour as you will learn interesting facts about Australia native plants.

Mrs. Chris Nayda author of Plants if the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens will tour you around herself and she's lovely.

We loved the way the areas have been divided into the different regions of South Australia. We saw lots of 2 headed skinks and birds. Breakfast in the cafe was something not to be missed.

Great place to stop in the way to the Flinders. The tasting platter for two is something I'd definitely recommend as it had some real tasty options and super well priced. Good nature walks as well and we saw a story desert pea finally.

Must visit when in Port Augusta.

Great botanic garden with several specific arid habitats on display. Great little information signs throughout the garden (although some are a bit weather-worn). Nice little visitor's centre with a great shop and lovely cafe.
Only had the icecream, they offer 4 local bush Tucker flavours. And the serving sizes are huge!
