David’s Master Pot 大味麻辣烫 (Russell St - Melbourne CBD) - Malatang, hotpot

During my recent visit to a David‘s for master pot, I was exceptionally impressed with the service, particularly by an employee named Helen. She was incredibly friendly and provided service with a constant smile, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The spicy hot pot itself was delicious, especially the rich bone broth. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the rice was complimentary. This combination of excellent service and great food truly made my meal memorable.

I never been here but yesterday my fiance went to this place.

Great Malatang with a wide variety of fresh ingredients and a fairly okay price. Highly recommend!

PS: be a bit cautious with spiciness if you are a western guy. Seriously! 😉

David must try David’s master pot… the spiciness is there and we think it is as good as the ones back home in Singapore…. A nice hot dish to have on a cold early August 2023…

Really enjoyed our spicy stir fry pot! There were so many ingredients to choose from! We ordered small spicy and that was spicy enough for us. It was such a good meal!

The food was amazing, the customization of getting to choose, coriander, spring onions or garlic as well as level of spice was great. The broth of the malatang soup was rich and flavorful with a range of different spices. The meat was tasty and there was so many ingredients to choose from which majority were super enjoyable. I only have two complaints which is there was a fly sitting on the prawns at the area where you can grab your own ingredients and some of the spicy beef and squid were chewy and not cooked properly so I couldn't eat it. Other than that it was nice especially the crab balls and seafood tofu.

The ambiance was very warm and inviting, they really put effort into the aesthetic of the place with the table decor to lanterns to neon lights it was very beautiful.

The staff were so sweet and really took care of the customers.

I really recommend coming to David's master pot. 🫶

One of the best places for this style of hotpot around town. The soup based are actually tasty and not full with msg. The ingredients are fresh. And they also gave us free deserts! And the best part about this is that you won’t feel super thirsty after like the other places. Full recommend! Only thing I’d say is they need to get the brand names right. There’s so many different version of store names but it’s all the same place.

This place is awesome! Open late and they serve delicious food. Super accommodating of my allergies and made sure I didn’t order anything too spicy. Will definitely return!!

Wow. Wonderful meal courtesy of David and his team. Noodles were beautifully prepared and the vegetables fresh. Can recommend coming here for a meal at any time, particularly late in the evening. Yummy

When David Hot Pot landed in Melbourne on Elizabeth and LaTrobe St it was an instant hit. Always packed full of people who wanted a communal hot pot experience.

Hot pot isn’t for everyone so if you’re selfish like me, you might prefer the malatang option – where you fill up your own bowl all the goodies in the fridge, choose your broth spicy level, see how much it weights, pay for it, then let them do the cooking for you.

David’s Spicy Pot on Russell St opened last year to much fanfare, in fact I was here on opening day! On this occasion I was invited by the venue to try the hot pot without all the festivities. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.

But for me, it’s always about the food. I quite like the soup broth at David’s – it packs heat but there is a tonne of flavour. Lots of variety in what you can fill your bowl with, my friend quite enjoyed the fried egg option. We couldn’t finish our noodles so the staff were kind enough to give us a takeaway container where I had the broth the next day.

If you want an authentic, tasty malatang hot pot experience – you must go to David’s!

We had the original spicy soup base with offerings of different spicy levels. Great choice of items to add in hot pot and prompt to refill when items are low. Attentive and speedy service of food with minimal wait time. We were also given some free dessert after. Look forward to coming back with friends!
