The Catfish

Wasn't expecting to actually see a Catfish in the aquarium upon entrance. Good old-fashioned pub with some tasty NZ beers on offer on tap and in bottles (visited during Pint of Origin).

A very nice bar/pub just outside Melbourne CBD. It has some amazing food in the form of American Philly steak sandwiches. They also offer an extensive range of Beers and many other drinks. Quite a cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. A definitive recomendation if you ever find yourself in Melbourne.

I love Philly cheese steaks and my husband loves the wings. Very nice atmosphere in the bar too.

Incredibly tasty sandwiches! I got the hot pepper one and it was amazing. The staffs were really friendly and the atmosphere is really nice. Definitely recommend!

Great selection of beer and non beer beverages. Knowledgeable service from staff, they actually know about their products.

Vibe is very much like a dive bar.

Best seat is at the bar next to Muddy the catfish who lives in a TV fish tank.

Sparrows is good but starting to get on the pricey side.

Tap beer rotation is quite good, you’ll always find a new beer here.

Internet/phone network connection is horrible, like a black hole. If you need to do something on your phone sit outside (back outside is smoking only, no food) or near the window.

This place is next level good! Amazing food, well mixed drinks and the best vibes! Highly recommend 10/10

What a wonderful little find. Quirky little bar with Boutique beers and other drinks. And a thriving signature Cheese Steak Bread Roll kitchen. Hint, watch out for the catfish in the TV.

Food was delicious, great service and loved the atmosphere. The band we saw upstairs were awesome too! We will definitely be back.

Dropped in on the 6th of Jan for a quick drink before going home.
Grabbed a small chips (HUGE) and a chicken burger, which were both amazing and got a couple of drinks off Miranda. She’s a great asset to this bar. If their beer wasn’t good enough I’d come just for her service.

Hell yes. I think I've found one of my fav places on Gertrude. Don't get me wrong there are some brilliant places on Gertrude catering for a wide range of budgets.

For quick and easy, this place is the one to go to. Their Philli cheesesteaks (bourbon bacon and Hoagie), some of the best Alabama white wings and a beer to wash it all down. All excellent and tasty. Service was quick. Also a good range of awesome hot sauces (we tried harbenero & mango, smoked jalepeno) available near the kitchen.

Scan the QR code, make an order, pay and wait for an SMS to pick up your grub from the kitchen at the back past the bar. Easy. Drinks at the bar.

Oh lord, this taste like a piece of America. The shroom cheesesteak with extra cheese is OUT OF THIS WORLD. The pretzel was baked perfectly and the ranch- makes you wonder if there’s an American in the kitchen. So good, friendly staff, and the best bloody mary I have had to date.
