Ordered a atsumori wafu tsukemen which was really good taste. The soup is very good. I ordered a regular size but I might go for large size next time. I had a counter seat downstairs, somehow the table and the chair heights were not matching and felt a little bit uncomfortable. Not too bad though. It’s a little bit dark and good ambiance for night out.

Stumbled across this place with 3 other mates for dinner. Got 4 options off their “Japas” menu, $31 each on average for food alone. Wonderful!
Will back to try their Ramen lunch options!

This is a highly regarded Japanese restaurant. Regular patrons are seated downstairs, and they only seat people upstairs when the downstairs area is full. Due to the high number of customers, the wait for food can be quite long. If you're in a rush, it might not be the best option. Also, please note that they don't accept cash payments; if you're an international customer, make sure to have a card for payment. The food is genuinely delicious, and I highly recommend trying their Goma Tsukemen.

A modern cozy Japanese restaurant focusing on ramen dishes.

The venue is sleek, dark and moody. The staff service is nice and friendly.
The food is good! The ramen and dipping ramen is simple yet yummy. Bonus is that the Robot bar is right across the alleyway.

Really good quality food tucked away in an alley, love the texture of the noodles, chashu melts in your mouth, great atmosphere. Chicken nanban and gyōza were good too, the quality really elevates it, my only complaint was the tataki was a whole lot of greens with a few pieces of beef.

Fantastic hidden ramen restaurant. Broth is rich and flavoursome, noodles just the right texture and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Edit - haven't been back since COVID (curse you Rona) and it is still the wonderful place I remember. Had Wafu Tsukumen - noodles were nice and bitey, broth was delicious and full of depth. Just went to Japan and this is the closest authentic Tsukumen you will get in Melbourne. So glad to see it didn't go the way of some of my other favourite places.

Really cosy place to have a bowl of ramen and some drinks. The noodles are more dense and chewy than what you get elsewhere in Melbourne, meaning that it's really up to personal preference as to whether you'll like it or not. The flavour is undeniably amazing and the sides are also very tasty. I would highly recommend booking a table downstairs if it's your first time coming because that's where this restaurant is most unique.

Stopped by on a Friday night with two friends, the staff very were friendly, helped us with our order and accommodating to our needs. The dipping ramen is my absolute favourite way to eat ramen and I wish I lived closer so I could have it all the time. It’s a tight space but it echos Japan’s ramen scene and feels genuine. Highly recommend!

If you like tsukemen, the dipping ramen, this place does it really well.
The wafu tsukemen is the popular choice here.

The Japanese tapas are pretty good too.

It's best to book for a table here since it can be pretty crowded.

Overall it's highly recommended.

Stumbled upon this place while browsing Google maps! Little quaint ramen & tapas bar (with more tables downstairs) with a unique ramen experience. Pricing is good as the food is really good. The ramen is unique because it's both sweet and savoury and it's not your typical miso ramen. If you are looking to try something authentic and no need to wait in queue.... open up your Google maps and be adventurous and try something "new" and unique.

My first visit, didn’t realise the queue would be so long! The wait time was almost an hour. After being seated, my partner and I immediately understood it’s popularity! Ordered their famous, “Wafu Tsukemen” sukiyaki - incredibly creamy and so tasty! Highly recommend! Since then, have repeatedly and happily returned to try their other menu items!:)

I had the Salmon foil-Yaki cooked to perfection (moist and super flavoursome) unfortunately they don’t offer rice here to accompany! Food came out efficiently but the server girl who looks after the front runs the place well when comes to reserving tables and juggling walk-ins but could be a little bit more friendlier! The Gyoza was delicious and the sauce it came with 👌🏼. Best to make booking if you are wanting to sit downstairs and there is more space if there is more than 2 people and wanting to enjoy your food. otherwise upstairs near the entrance is more like a bar set up, good pit stop to eat before heading home.

Mugen Ramen is a culinary experience to say the least, hidden in a small alleyway, it avoids the overcrowding that you get from the main street ramen joints along Swanston or Russell St. But that doesn't mean it isn't popular at all!

You have the option to eat along a generic bench top when you enter, or head downstairs to the basement where you'll find more well-lit seating and a flurry of Samurai Noir films projected on the wall.

I've tried the nutty sesame tsukemen, the nothing-but-chicken ramen (a little bland for my liking but rather refreshing and enjoyable), and my friend had the ever spicy tantan men.

Would highly recommend the Japanese craft beer, my personal favourite being the Beniaka, or amber "sweet potato" ale! Also, they provide 10% off drinks at the Japanese bar across from them. Awesome for a night out.

Overall, it was a great experience! I've been wanting to try Tsukemen for a long time, and this was a good first time! Definitely eat their Tsukemen heard from friends the Ramennis a bit too watery in flavour though.

Did a walk-in on Saturday night and the waiting time was 1 hour. We were happy to wait at the bar across from the restaurant. Once our table was ready, we were welcomed by friendly staff and amazed with the atmosphere. Ordered the tsukemen and it was very delicious and tasty. Great portion size and value for money. Highly recommend and will come back! We received a 10% discount at the restaurant since we had drinks from the bar.

Best ramen I've had. The dipping ramen is unique but so flavourful. Seating is a bit squishy

Great service. The dipping sauce was a bit of too salty, both of them. But the noddles were fantastic, got a really nice texture.

Hands down the best tsukemen in Melbourne! Personal favourites are the wafu tsukemen and wafu ramen.
Fantastic service, the staff here are always welcoming and friendly!
Can get crowded during dinner time so make a reservation.

I have moved away from australia but if theres one thing I miss its mugen ramen. In my travels through japan I struggled to find a ramen that was even CLOSE to the quality of the ramen here. Highly recommend 5/5
